S-Hook Ah Lian Reference in IKEA’s Ad Shows They’re Not Just a Restaurant Selling Meatballs

Now, IKEA’s known by many monikers, some of which include ‘furniture extraordinaire’, ‘meatball gourmet’ and many more.

But what some do not know is that IKEA’s actually pretty darn trendy when it comes to, say, social media matters.

I mean; how else would they come up with something like this?

At first glance, it might just look like your normal hook, albeit one made out of stainless steel.

But take another look, and you’ll catch it. T-Shirt not included? S-Hook?

Ah Lian Promoter

But before we explore more of those legendary IKEA S-Hooks, I feel obliged to present the whole, uncensored history of the female promoter we know only by the moniker…

Ah Lian.

(Although we did discover that her name was actually Lerine Yeo, but let’s not get into specifics)

Having emerged into prominence via her larger than life examples about hook T-shirts and short dresses and luncheon meat and seaweed and whatnot, she’s now a pretty renowned name in the local scene, and it’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t actually know her name.

But if you don’t recall, here are a few videos to illustrate all that I’ve been rambling on about.

Funniest Ah Lian Salesperson

Yep, that’s the Ah Lian we all know and love alright.

Recently, she was invited to radio station LOVE 97.2FM and did an impromptu sales pitch to see a…umbrella. You can check out the live video here.

And yes, she lives in Yishun #justsaying

But contrary to what her exterior self might suggest, Lerine seems to be a genuine person in nature. The apparel model-seller, who started Misshopper Boutique in March and now operates it full-time, recently opened up to Stomp in an interview about her new-found fame.

And it seems that she’s more than what she lets on.

“To those who dislike me, it’s okay. I am nothing special but I hope that even if my personality doesn’t attract you, somehow my clothes will,” she said.

Well, I dare say that even if her hooks didn’t, her personality certainly did. 🙂

And that brings us to…

The meat of the seaweed.

The legendary IKEA S-Hooks in question.

Now, you might not have hooked on at first.

But the Netizens sure as hell did.

And it seems that IKEA has been taking some notes from Wendy’s books too.

IKEA’s Social Media Game: LIT AF

If you’re new to the social media game, then IKEA is one you’d have to tune in to regularly.

Other than their April’s Fools joke that showed a person living in IKEA’s showrooms, they’ve puns like this…

…this…

…and many more.

But what’s even more is their replies to comments.

Like Nas Daily, they try to reply to all comments, but in a witty manner. When it’s a serious question, they’ll change their tone immediately and answer professionally:

You know what?

We think the people who managed the SCDF Page ORD-ed and now work in IKEA. #justsaying
