S$240,000 CNY Meal, Because Why Buy a Flat When You Can Have a Sick Dinner

We’re not supposed to spare any expenses when it comes to CNY reunion dinner, because nothing is worth more than family. We’re also supposed to understand that as a metaphor, and not take it literally.

Somebody forgot to tell this guy.

For a group of 20 people at Feng Shui Inn restaurant, Resorts World Sentosa, their CNY reunion dinner cost S$240,000. This is equivalent to an average 3-room HDB flat. An entire home for an average family. People are struggling out there to afford a home, and here we have this guy eating an entire HDB flat for CNY.

The meal included a curious number of ‘special dishes’, which, according to the restaurant, are special requests the customer made. The most expensive special dish on the receipt cost S$3,688 per dish, and the group bought 15. I can’t even afford 15 McDonald’s meals.

For a special request to cost that much, apparently it could contain air-flown ingredients specially for the dish. Absolutely bonkers.

The most ridiculous thing, however, is the amount they spent on alcohol: a total of S$133,000, just for 7 bottles. As it happens, 133,000km is one-third the distance between the Earth and the Moon. If a dollar was 1km long, we’d be well on our way to the Moon once we stack that shit up.

Apparently, alcohol prices can really get that high in Singapore. It’s probably more expensive than actual liquid gold.

There’s also a $3 special dish that they bought 100 of. Who needs 100 of something to eat?

You know what? Somebody introduce me to this man. I’d like to be his friend.
