While we can dine in from 10 August 2021, you might still be dabao-ing your food because you expect a long queue outside every eatery as the staff member checks each person’s arm physically to ensure that he or she has taken the COVID-19 vaccine.
But the face of the fight against COVID-19, Mr Lawrence Wong, had a better solution: during the latest press conference, he suggests showing our phone to the staff member since our TraceTogether and HealthHub app would have shown whether we’re fully vaccinated for not.
Some of us can still show the staff member the physical paper that proves we’re vaccinated.

That’s a valid point, which is why the authorities have made things even easier: just scan and go, the same way you tap in and out of a shopping mall.
New SafeEntry System Can Detect Whether a Visitor is Fully Vaccinated or Not
A wise man once said, “You can code everything, even next week’s 4D number.”
And so, people who look at green text and black screen every day have coded a system for businesses to check if a person is fully vaccinated or not without even saying a single word.
The SafeEntry system used by businesses now has a feature to verify if a visitor is fully vaccinated or not; all it takes for a business to enable it is just to click on a checkbox.
This even works for people using the TraceTogether token, so even if a senior doesn’t have a phone, his or her TraceTogether token will do the trick, too.
In fact, the system is so useful that it can even check if one has a negative COVID-19 test, because an unvaccinated person can enter vaccinated-differentiated premises if they’ve tested negative or COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Business owners can check out this guide to know more about this new feature.
What You Can Do from 10 August 2021
Lest you’ve been living under a rock, here’s why this is such a big deal: From 10 August 2021, groups of up to 5 persons will be allowed to dine-in at F&B establishments if all the diners are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated children aged 12 years and below may be included within the group of 5 persons as long as all the children are from the same household.
In addition, only vaccinated individuals are allowed for certain mask-off services like facial services.
Suffice to say, we were then worried that it’ll take extra time for staff members to check our vaccination status.
