It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we’ve long since taken buses for granted.
After all, all we gotta do is tap in during the boarding process, wait and then tap out when we reach our destination.
Sounds pretty rigid… right?

Yet, the fact remains that bus journeys aren’t always so frigid in nature. Sometimes, they could really take a left turn…
Such as the following instance, which left a 68-year-old man in a severe state.
68YO Severely Injured After SBS Transit Bus Driver Braked Hard to Avoid a Car That Cut into Its Lane
On 8 September 2021, a 68-year-old man was taking bus service 175 along North Bridge Road in the morning, and was preparing to alight before Liang Seah Street and the Bugis Cube bus stop.
Just as he stood up, however, a car suddenly cut into the bus’ lane.
In a bid to avoid a collision, the bus driver pressed hard on the emergency brakes.
The sudden stop caused the 68-year-old man, Mr Siah Keok Tiang, to be thrown forward. Losing his footing, he ended up falling.
In a statement, Ms Tammy Tan, senior vice-president of corporate communications at SBS Transit, stated that the bus had proceeded to dial the operations control center, which then reached out to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Mr Siah was quickly sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital by SCDF paramedics. He was reportedly in a conscious state at the time.

Mr Siah’s daughter has since hoped for the best.
His blood pressure is very high now and due to the bleeding in the brain,” she wrote. “He is in a very confused state. He do not recognise me at all. He is also not alert at all now.
“We are very worried about our dad. Please help us also do a prayer for my dad. We hope he can survive this. The next few hours are very critical. Please give us some of your time to do a prayer for my dad. Thank you and we are really grateful for all of your prayers.”
