SBS Transit CEO Suddenly Resigned & It’s Allegedly Due to Extramarital Relationship

Over the last few years, we’ve been reading about the SMRT CEO—or to be more specific, the SMRT CEOs.

People were roasting the head after a series of breakdowns, and they wanted heads to be roasted roll.

No one’s spoken about the SBS Transit CEO, simply because bus breakdowns aren’t exactly news that’ll affect tens of thousands of people.

But finally, after so many years, its head is in the news but for a different reason altogether.

SBS Transit CEO Resigns Due to Personal Indiscretion

Depending on where you read the news from, you’ll get different stories.

In Channel NewsAsia, the 61-year-old CEO, Mr Gan Juay Kiat, is resigning due to “lapses in conduct”, and it “not clear what the actions were”.

Over at The Straits Times, it’s mentioned that it’s allegedly due to an extramarital relationship.

And of, the trusty Lianhe Zaobao scooped out even more juicy details: it was allegedly with a married subordinate.

I kid you not with the headline.

According to an Instagram post, the private investigator was allegedly involved in filming Mr Gan’s alleged affairs, and even have video proof.

If you can’t read the text, here’s what is written without the promotional text:

Catch Cheating Spouse, Beyond Social Media.

61 years old SBS Transit CEO caught having multiple affairs with Subordinates/ married women within a month. (Affairs captured with different women in Singapore during office hours/weekends and overseas)

Posted with the consent of our client to prevent sabotages / women being cheated / break marriages and abuse of authority.

Police Catch Criminal, we Catch sinners – Betrayal of trust.

But of course, we can’t be certain how real this is.

Ex-High Flyer in the SAF

We all know the current SMRT CEO is an ex-General, but did you know that our SBS Transit chief also hails from the SAF?

Mr Gan used to be LTC Gan, and was a President’s Scholar and had an SAF scholarship in 1976. Before joining SBS Transit, he worked in Ascott Group, CapitaLand and General Electric Company.

When he joined SBS Transit in 2007, he took the role of Chief Operating Officer, and became its CEO in 2010.

Resignation Accepted

The chairman of SBS Transit has accepted the resignation Mr Gan submitted yesterday (28 Dec) morning, adding, “He has accepted full responsibility for his lapses in conduct and the board has accepted his resignation. We have lost a good CEO, who has done much for land transport in Singapore.”

Of course you’ve got to wonder: why would he need to resign if he has an extramarital relationship? Isn’t that something personal? Would his affair affects bus service 99?

Well.

In a Straits Times report, a managing director of a human resource firm states this: “In other countries, such indiscretions are tolerated… In Singapore, we expect our public or corporate leaders to be whiter than white. It is our social norm.”

Whiter than white.

Of course, another reason is that he could be compromised if he held such a deep secret, as dark forces like Thanos could blackmail him and force him to wipe out half of all SBS Transit bus services.

Let’s just wait and see who’s going to take over him. A certain Desmond might have the experience to run the company.
