Someone in Sengkang Chopped Off a Cat’s Leg & Left the Knife Nearby

For some inexplicable, incomprehensible, and twisted reason, some people enjoy abusing helpless animals.

In the past few years alone, we’ve witnessed numerous instances of stray animals or pets getting beaten, poisoned, or even eaten alive.

This time, a poor cat was the victim of someone’s sadistic inclinations.

Someone in Sengkang Chopped Off a Cat’s Leg

A cat’s mutilated carcass was found in a pool of blood in Sengkang, with one of its limbs severed.

Cleaners found the dead cat at Block 470B in Fernvale Link on Saturday (12 Dec), with its severed hind limb some distance away from its body.

Social media user Fiona Loh detailed the incident on Instagram, saying she was first alerted by SPCA after they received feedback of a cat who was bleeding.

Before she arrived on the scene, the cleaners had washed away the blood and kept the cat’s carcass inside a plastic bag.

According to Loh, the cat was a tabby cat with a bobtail and tipped ear. It wasn’t microchipped.

Abuser Left Knife Near the Scene

Loh suspected that a sharp knife was used, as the “severed limb was a very clean cut.”

Her suspicions were soon confirmed.

Though there was no blade at the scene, Loh noticed some blood stains on the door of the riser right beside where the carcass was first discovered.

When she opened it, she found a knife laying on a pipe.

Rescued Another Stray Cat in the Area

Loh said she found another cat at a stairway nearby and decided to take her away in case the abuser returned.

“To safeguard her, I had to take her away immediately. There is no telling if the culprit would do it again.”

Loh has renamed her Wakandah, and will be looking to find her a home.

Investigations Ongoing

Loh said that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) has already started retrieving security footage from CCTV cameras in the area.

“I will follow up with SPCA, AVS (Animal & Veterinary Service) and SPF to ensure that the culprit who did this sadistic act would be caught and charged.” she said.

Those convicted of animal cruelty face a fine of up to S$15,000 and 18 months in jail for a first offence.

As Loh said, if you don’t like animals, just leave them alone.

“If you don’t like the cats, just walk away, don’t hurt them. What sort of human would actually even do this? I shudder thinking what you would do to humans you don’t like.”

Let’s hope the culprit is caught before he or she abuses more animals.
