No one likes a bully.
That’s a fact, like it or not.
In 31-year-old Seo Ye-Ji’s case, her alleged bullying cases are starting to look more credible each passing day, especially when more victims come forward, and more scandals which gave all of us a peek into her real personality emerge.
She’s an infamous bully in school
Back in 2014, one of her alleged bullying victims posted on social media accusing Seo Ye-Ji of being a school bully back in middle school.
Alongside what was the actress’ yearbook photo, the netizen, who claimed to be her former classmate, alleged that “Seo Ye-ji bullied me in middle school and even extorted me.”
Back then, her fans hit back stating that the photo didn’t even look like their favourite actress.
Fast-forward to April 13, just a few days ago, another alleged bullying victim stepped forward to corroborate the previous victim’s story.
She also shared the yearbook photo of Seo Ye-ji, explaining that “Seo Ye-ji went for plastic surgery around her middle school graduation, and that’s why people couldn’t believe those photos are actually of her.”
In Koreaboo’s latest bombshell article surrounding the issue, the alleged bullying victims were finally given the chance to air their grievances, with one stating that “There was a girl who got smacked around in front of everyone by Seo Ye Ji. She’s a mom now. She (Seo Ye Ji) would go around with her girls, but if she decided she didn’t like you, she would start hitting you. She treated people like they were her belongings.”
“The reason why the school violence and bullying didn’t blow up at the time is because we’re all mothers now. It’s hard for mothers to step forward and come out like that. I’m also a mother so I fully understand where they were coming from,” she continued.
The victim that came out with her story back in 2014 also added that “Seo Ye Ji was well-known at our school as a bully. Everyone knew her. She would bully and steal money from people.”
More victims are also voicing out, with one netizen who allegedly attended the same middle school as the actress stating that “In middle school, a kid who bullied, dragged, ripped, and borrowed things without ever giving them back, made her debut as an actor.”
Another netizen is a bit vaguer in her comment, stating that “If you ask people who were born in 1990 and went to Yeongwon Junior High School in Yeongdongpo about this girl, they’d know who you’re talking about.”
She bullies her employees
A few days ago, a staffer who used to work with Seo Ye-Ji allegedly claim that the actress has frequently mistreated her staff members at her entertainment agency, Gold Medalist.
The post stated that “As a staff member going around in the same car with her for several years, verbal abuse was nothing. She smoked in the car, so I suffered from secondhand smoke. Also, she made me buy cigarettes and would scold me for a small mistake while blowing smoke in my face.”
Besides being accused of other abusive conduct, the actress was also accused of regularly checking the staffer’s phone and threatening him/her.
This isn’t at all surprising to know since Seo Ye-Ji was also linked to another scandal where she was accused of being a control freak back when she was in a relationship with actor Kim Jung-hyun.
As revealed via their private text messages on the Korean newspaper Dispatch, it seems like Seo was manipulating her then-boyfriend, resulting in him dropping out of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation’s (MBC) romance drama he was filming, Time.
Of course, that’s not mentioning that she allegedly lied about studying at Complutense University of Madrid as she contradicted her own statement about doing so, and how she treated her friends while she was purportedly studying in Spain.
Netizens seem to be mobilized as well and are digging up more dirt as we speak.
Like I said, no one likes a bully; alleged or otherwise.
The fallout
All these controversy and scandals have forced Seo Ye-Ji to lay low and stay out of the spotlight. After releasing a statement via Gold Medalist regarding the allegations, she was not communicated with reporters since.
She has been replaced in her upcoming Orion Cinema Network (OCN) K-drama, Island, with the production team stating that the primary reason for doing so is the massive amount of negative publicity she has been getting.
Several brands she was supposed to sponsor took her off their PR lists as well in light of all these controversies.
If the allegations proved to be true, I’m afraid the fallout would definitely be a lot more severe. Her career in the spotlight would be utterly ruined, that’s for sure.
