Serial Stalker Jailed For Harassing Woman; He Has Stalked American Singer Before That

Repeat after me, everyone:

Stalking. Is. Creepy.

Especially when you go to lengths of messaging them creepy emails or messages to let them know your ‘affection.’

Or in some cases, I don’t know, attempt to kill them?

The point is basically not to take affections to the extremities where it gets lands you on the Singapore Police Force’s big three: found, arrested, convicted.

Unfortunately, some people like Colin Mak Yew Loong just can’t get a hint.

The Big Creep

On November 2018, Mak, 44, had met a Kazakhstani woman, 31, during a work conference.

Convinced for whatever reason that this was a good idea, he began to continuously text and send her emails. In fact, he continued all the way till 29 July this year!

278 Whatsapp messages and 62 emails? The guy was obviously not focusing on his work.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Sunil Nair told the court that Mak went to the woman’s office four times in six months even though he knew that he was not welcome there.

“The accused ought to have reasonably known that his acts would cause harassment to the victim.”

Either that or obviously not at all. People hate persistently-creepy men.

The Lengths He Went

Once again, please do not admire his ‘hard work’.

Just a week after they met on 1 November 2018, Mak sent her 173 messages.

WITHIN A WEEK!

The woman only replied now and then but stopped after he asked her shoe size.

She blocked Mak on 1 December 2018 after he refused to stop.

And then that’s where the 62 emails eventually happened.

He even showed up to her office three times this year: once on February, 1 July and 24 July. She rejected his advances every time and told him that she was uncomfortable.

So, naturally, he thought it would still be a good idea to come back on 26 July.

Even though the woman wasn’t in, she made a police report at that time. Mak then got arrested on 3 August. Finally.

Post Arrest

I kid you not, Mak actually had the guts to ask for a lenient sentence.

Personally I don’t understand how you can do this and still ask for leniency, but I guess he had to try.

He said he wanted to take full responsibility, and his e-mails to the woman were about politics and business collaborations.

Mak even claimed he never threatened her at any point.

Smells like some BS if you ask me.

District Judge Luke Tan begged to differ and said that his actions would have caused distress to the woman.

He even referenced other instances of Mak’s stalking, warning that there would be a much heavier sentence in the future.

For unlawful stalking, Mak could have faced an enhanced penalty of a fine of up to $10,000, jail for up to two years, or both.

Repeat Offender

So…you want to know about these past cases. We got a famous one here.

In 2013, Mak was jailed for 14 counts of criminal intimidation. Ten of these were against singer, Leandra Ramm.

She even included her horrors with him in her book Talk about a terrible path to fame.

After Mak saw her on a CNN talk show in 2005, he became obsessed sent more than 5,000 e-mails and voice messages up till 2011. Most of it threatened to kill her.

Another case involved a 30-year-old Hungarian music teacher he stalked by threatening her boyfriend.

Lastly, Mak was also fined $3,000 for harassing a 28-year-old Ukranian musician, pestering her to go on a date through emails and shouting at her in a cafe.

Ladies and gents, please don’t ever turn out like this guy. If you make your affections clear and get rejected, move on and don’t be a creeper.

In the first place, don’t show your affections through stalks or threats, please.
