SFA Investigating White Worms Found In Sausages Allegedly Bought From FairPrice

I recently wrote about our beloved tofu having a little extra… flavour after a Singapore tofu manufacturer’s factory space was found to be riddled with “widespread cockroach infestation“.

Glad to know that this time, it’s white worms. Allegedly, of course.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is appealing for more information after a video made the rounds on the internet. Specifically, YouTube.

In the video, we see our favourite piece of processed meat, the hotdog, being infested by white worms.

Worse still, the video claims that the chicken sausage in question is produced by a popular brand found here in Singapore, the United States brand Valley Chef.

Two men and a woman avidly discuss the white worms that fill the water that the sausages are taking a bath in.

One of the three does the “experiment” once more by emptying and refilling the bowl with water to show the camera that the white worms in the water are from the chicken sausages.

They then say in Mandarin, “Do you see this? Parasites eh.”

And for those wondering, they also showed the expiry date on the packaging and it wasn’t expired.

Allegedly Bought From FairPrice

What makes matters worse is that the sausages were allegedly bought from NTUC FairPrice, which is why SFA is scrambling to get more information.

It’s pretty worrying because the brand is popular among Singaporeans and can be widely found in supermarkets.

Let’s hope that the authorities can get to the bottom of this ASAP.

In the meantime, it’s best to take a good look at your sausages before you eat them and maybe dunk them in a bucket of water to see if any worms come out, for good measure.
