Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Offers Free COVID-19 Tests for Unvaccinated Guests & Guests Who Only had 1 Dose

With the recent safe management updates in tow, one would be forgiven for sitting out a trip to the prestigious Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa.

Especially when you’re unvaccinated and all.

“Surely all the amenities would be inaccessible to us,” exclaimed an unvaccinated individual.

But here’s the thing. While the government may have accounted for the safety of the nation…

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa has accounted for the welfare of its guests.

What do I mean, exactly? Well, just scroll on to find out.

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Offers Free COVID-19 Tests for Unvaccinated Guests & Guests Who Only had 1 Dose

Lest you’re unaware, only vaccinated residents will be permitted to dine in at restaurants, and they can do so in groups of up to five.

Diners will also have to provide proof of their vaccination status, before they’re allowed to dine in.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated individuals will need a legitimate pre-event test (PET) result to enjoy the same dine-in experiences.

Naturally, the same rules and regulations apply to Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, which kind of complicates things considering how a PET result could prove a little… troublesome.

Thankfully, however, it seems that Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa will be smoothening the process with free Covid-19 tests of their own.

From now until 19 August 2021, the hotel will be providing complimentary tests to guests.

The process will be run on-site by a Ministry of Health-approved provider.

Once guests procure a negative PET result, they’ll be able to visit the resort’s F&B outlets.

Multiple Testing Attempts

For the record, each test result will only have a validity period of 24 hours.

But it appears that Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa has also factored this notion into play.

Apparently, guests will be able to take a test every day, during the period of their staycation, if required.

“By providing complimentary PET for guests who have yet to complete their vaccinations, we hope it adds an extra layer of assurance and greater peace of mind for all our staycation guests, our colleagues and the community,” said the hotel’s general manager, Mr Gavin Weightman.

“The initiative also serves to ensure our guests are able to continue enjoying the resort experience to the fullest while strictly complying with the prevailing SMMs.

In addition, the hotel may continue offering free tests even after 19 August. This will vary depending on the government’s advisories.

It should be noted that several other five-star hotels do not offer pre-event testing.

19 August

It was previously announced that the restrictions would last until 18 August, so what’s going to happen on 19 August, the “real date” of the reopening?

Here’s a preview of what we can expect:

  • Congregational and other worship services, cinemas, MICE, live performances, spectator sports events, and marriage solemnizations. These events may take place with up to 1,000 attendees if all are fully vaccinated. Otherwise, only up to 50 attendees will be allowed without PET.
  • Attractions, cruises, museums, and public libraries. The operating capacity of attractions and cruises will be increased from the current capacity of 25% to 50%. Museums and public libraries will also be allowed to operate at an increased operating capacity of 50%.
  • Shopping malls and showrooms. The occupancy limits for shopping malls and showrooms will be increased from the current limit of 16 sqm per person of Gross Floor Area to 10 sqm per person.
  • Work-from-home. Up to 50% of employees who are able to work from home will be allowed to return to the workplace.
  • Removal of Temperature Screening Requirement. Public premises will no longer be required to measure visitors’ temperature.

More updates are expected in due time.

Until then, if you’re unvaccinated but in need of a relaxing staycation…

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa may just be the place you’re looking for.
