She injected cooking oil into her face. Serious.
Why cooking oil? We wonder too. A child would’ve known that putting cooking oil in your face is a terrible idea.
This South Korean lady and former model Hang Mioku has been left permanently disfigured following the DIY beauty treatment. She was a natural beauty when she was younger. However, at 28 years old, she had her first plastic surgery and later went to Japan for repeated treatment. She became obsessed with making her skin softer and smoother, so much that doctors refused further surgery for her because her face had become noticeably larger.
So she started obtaining silicon on the black market to inject into her face herself. And when that, too, ran out, she resorted to, you guessed it, cooking oil.
Still doesn’t explain why she deem injecting cooking oil into her face a good idea.
Her face was so horribly disfigured that even her own parents couldn’t recognize her. She went too far with her obsession and her face was left irreversibly swollen and scarred. Her plight was later broadcasted on the TV and viewers donated thousands of dollars to help her attain corrective surgery. During the first of 10 operations, surgeons removed 60g of silicone, oil and other foreign substances from her face and 200g from her neck.
Because her face was so large compared to her small body, she was called “standing fan” by local kids. They might be mean, but we all know kids never lie.
Her face is much less swollen now but is still large and severely disfigured. It seems that there is no way to return her former beauty.
Recently the former model was working in a recycled clothes shop, called The Beautiful Shop, and receiving handouts from the state.
Here’s a simplified summary of the South Korea martial law that even a 5-year-old would understand:
