A Man is Livestreaming His Entire 14-Day SHN in S’pore & It’s Still Live Now

For ages, we’ve heard of the infamous 14-Day Stay Home Notice:

A period during which you cannot step outside of the room you’re quarantining in.

And though we can envision how it roughly goes, the all-important question remains;

Is it truly as dreary as we thought, or could it actually become a questionable place of comfort?

After all, Mark Lee’s quarantine diary over in Taiwan has certainly not been lacklustre in any sense.

And from the looks of it, this man’s 14-day SHN in Singapore doesn’t seem to be sub-par either.

Though it did, admittedly, contain a few question marks.

14-Day SHN In Singapore

On 24 November 2020, Youtube channel Singaporean In Korea / America / Japan uploaded a video called ‘My Quarantine Process and Experience in Singapore’ – in which he describes the brief outlook of a quarantine period in Singapore, as well as the tentative process of how it goes.

According to him, meals at the hotel are served three times a day, though there’s no choice of cuisine.

Laundry service is available, but it takes three days to process.

And though he did express his gratitude at being taken to a 5-star hotel, the Youtuber stated that the ushering process could have been done better, as he felt like he was being escorted into a “nazi concentration camp”.

It was something, he said, that could be “improved”.

He also said that the day of arrival does not actually count under the quarantine period.

This means that he’s effectively serving 15 days in isolation, instead of 14 days as stipulated.

Two days later, on 26 November, the Youtuber began his live-stream.

Apparently, he obeys a strict timetable during the quarantine period.

He would wake up every day at 7:00 a.m., and wash up.

This is followed by a 1-hour morning workout session at 7:30 a.m.

He would then wash up and relax until 9:00 a.m., whereby he would conduct a morning chit chat session with his livestream audience.

At 11:00 a.m., he heads off for a morning nap.

After he wakes up, he indulges in lunch and hosts another two-hour chit chat session with the audience.

At 2:00 p.m., he goes off to relax and chill, before partaking in a 1-hour afternoon workout session at 3:00 p.m.

At 4:00 p.m., he washes up and chills, before engaging in his third and last chit chat session of the day at 5:00 p.m.

After the interactive chat ends at 7:00 p.m., he would proceed for his evening workout.

He then washes up at 8:00 p.m., and proceeds with the US stock market.

You can view his live-stream here (yes, it should be still live as you’re reading this):

Enjoying It

During the Youtuber’s morning chit chat session on 28 November, he mentioned that he was not “miserable at all”.

In fact, he’s “enjoying” the process, and stated that he did not mind doing a “few months” of it.

However, he did concede that the isolation process was only enjoyable because he had a live audience to communicate with.

This, he said, made sure that he did not actually feel isolated. At the same time, he did not feel threatened by the outside world.

He also liked the fixed, “mechanical” lifestyle that was going on.

But not all’s sunshine and rainbows.

For instance, he described his morning breakfast of pancakes as “American trash”.

It was filled with artificial sweeteners and flour, a notion that he did not appreciate.

Evidently annoyed with it, he announced that he might be ordering something else instead.

Interacting with a livestream audience, too, appears to work as a double-edged sword.

Though it has not made him feel “isolated”, some queries have also served to irritate him.

Instances include queries on how to trade stocks or earn money.

In response, the Youtuber simply implied that nothing comes free in this world.

If they wish to seek help from him, they should try to build a relationship with him.

At this point, his anger is clear for all to see, a notion that commenters did not miss.

“Why is he so angry?” one asked. “I’m shocked.”
Another said: “After workout I just visited his channel but he was looking angry with someone.”

Well, looks like isolation’s not entirely as dreadful as it was proclaimed to be.

However, it’s certainly not perfect too, from the looks of it.

As our mums always preach:

“It’s best to go out and get some sun once in a while.”

Quarantine ‘Diaries’

It appears that quarantine diaries of a video format are slowly becoming a thing.

Just recently, local comedian Mark Lee filmed his own quarantine series while isolated over at Taiwan.

He had travelled overseas to attend the Golden Horse Awards ceremony, for which he was a contender for the Best Actor award.
