When it comes to food delivery apps, Singaporeans aren’t exactly lacking in options.
GrabFood, Deliveroo, and foodpanda are just a few of the online food and grocery delivery platforms where residents can order food from their toilets instead of getting off their butts.
But the food delivery game has only gotten more competitive since the emergence of COVID-19, and there’s always room for more players.
It’s therefore unsurprising that another e-commerce store will be dipping its toes into this large pool, and is apparently already looking for workers to join its team.
Shopee Hiring People in S’pore for Their Food Delivery Business
It’s no secret that Shopee is planning to expand its operations to the food industry, as it has already done so in Malaysia and Indonesia.
It officially launched its own food delivery platform in April last year on YouTube on its Shopee Indonesia channel:
Now, it seems that Singapore will be the next destination for ShopeeFood, as it’s already begun recruiting workers.
If you head to Shopee’s Career Page, you’ll see that there are 72 positions listed for ShopeeFood.
Most of them, however, are for vacancies in Vietnam, as well as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
There are two listings, though, for jobs in Singapore.
The Roles
The first job listing is for a UI/UX Designer.
“As a UI/UX Designer within our ShopeeFood team, you will have the opportunity to drive the end-to-end Design process of our ShopeeFood products, to better position ShopeeFood as the preferred food delivery platform in the region,” the listing said.
Those employed will “lead the design process” for its e-commerce products, as well as develop clear and effective user interfaces in line with Shopee’s “product and business goals,”, to name a few.

The other job listing, which was the first one put up in Singapore, is for a Product Manager.
According to the listing, the product manager will have the opportunity to “drive conceptual and technical development of our ShopeeFood product ideas, improve data accuracy and better position ShopeeFood as the preferred food delivery platform in the region”.
You can read more about the job here.
However, of course, there’s a chance that the position is located in Singapore but the employee would be working on an international product.

Shopee Joining Hospitality Scene
Believe it or not, Shopee has also joined the hospitality sector with the creation of Shopee Hotel.
This will help users of Shopee Hotel search and make bookings for hotel stays.
Shopee reportedly launched their hospitality arm in anticipation of leisure travel resuming as more countries ease their border restrictions.
