For the common folk, we can’t even begin to imagine how celebrity life is like.
The fame, fortune and paparazzi following you around is something most of us get a glimpse of from our own comfort.
But this season, you may have also seen some of these celebrities online.
And more specifically, selling CNY related goods.
Here’s a list of ten of them that we found.
Wang Lei
Those who’re a bit younger may not know of him.
But maybe ask your parents or those into getai will know of Wang Lei.
In the online realm, the getai singer/host has done extremely well for himself by selling seafood.
As recently as 3 Feb, the “Fish Selling Bro” is promoting CNY hot pot ingredients on his live Facebook videos.
Which includes, you guessed it, seafood.
In fact, do you know that he even have brick-and-mortar shops selling CNY snacks as well?
Ben Yeo
You’ve seen him on dozens of variety shows and on dramas like Babies on Board.
But did you know that Ben Yeo is no stranger to selling food online, namely his famous chee cheong fun?
This season, he’s taken to selling a more festive dish as well: yusheng platters.
Each of these ‘Moo Moo Yusheng Platters’ has been on sale twice on 21 and 28 Jan over at Channel 8’s Facebook page.
Another live sale was on 4 Feb between 8pm and 9pm.
They contain ingredients like abalone, yuzu juice, romaine lettuce, pomegranate, and a specially concocted plum sauce.
And if you’ve missed it, too bad; you might want to head down to any Hawkerman outlet since the chain is founded by the SHATEC-trained celebrity.
Xiang Yun
Let’s go a bit more down the yusheng rabbit hole.
Recently, it was reported that Xiang Yun along with Pan Ling Ling and celebrity chef Cao Yong has entered a business venture together.
This eventually birthed Ju Xing Ji, with the two actresses’ aim to create a healthier yusheng.
The final product now has ingredients such as abalone, ice plant, purple cabbages, taro and cherry tomatoes.
You can order it over here, at a discounted price till Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Mark Lee
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone locally who doesn’t know the name, Mark Lee.
And it’s also no surprise that he’s had a lot of experience in doing live sales.
Notably, last year when he helped struggling entrepreneur’s cause of COVID-19 to sell their wares online.
Now, he frequently does live promotions and sales over on his own Facebook page, selling almost anything you can think of.
One of his more recent videos saw him promoting Golden Abalone in a slightly over 90-minute live stream, which means yes, the funnyman is selling CNY goodies, too.
Quan Yi Fong
We can’t talk about classic local celebs without mentioning Quan Yi Fong, of course.
While most of her Facebook consists of selfies or pictures with her daughter, you may have noticed a live stream or two last month as well.
In it, she was seen promoting CNY luggage hampers which contained a variety of items for bak kwa to hot pot items.
As of this writing, the hampers have all been sold out.
You might want to follow her Facebook Page for the latest update.
Pornsak
From hosting shows to the restaurant business, Pornsak has been a mainstay in the list of the local celebs for many years.
However, he recently announced that he’s officially left Mediacorp in a Facebook post on 2 Feb.
The Thai-Chinese actor says he’ll be doing more live streaming and making content for new media.
And if you didn’t know he’s already jumped into the world of online shopping with celebrity hairstylist Addy Lee and fellow host Michelle Chia at Mdada达达开播.
In a stream that was over seven hours, the trio was seen promoting goods from CNY foodstuffs to even facial products.
Bong Qiu Qiu
You might know her as Recruit Ken Chow’s girlfriend from Ah Boys To Men.
But you probably know Bong Qiu Qiu for being a lifestyle blogger and influencer.
Earlier in January, the influencer began hosting a show called Qaibo Live, where she would discuss a topic along with promoting products.
Case in point, a few days ago on 31 Jan, she hosted a ‘CNY X Valentines’ day live stream where products would go on discount.
Joanne Peh
Not being able to travel kind of stinks, especially if it’s to celebrate the upcoming festive season.
However, that’s not stopping Joanne Peh from bringing a bit of Guangzhou here.
Along with chef Anthony Pangetsu, the actress has made a variety of pastries for the season, ranging from shortbreads to pineapple tarts.
She had only made 30 boxes available though, so you have to wonder if any are still available.
Or you could email them at [email protected] to find out.
Janice Wong
But how can we bring up pastries without mentioning the name Janice Wong.
For those unaware, she been named Asia’s Best Pastry Chef for 2013 and 2014 and has trained under world-renowned chefs.
She also owns several restaurants, some of which you may have been to, such as 2am:dessertbar.
And to say she makes picturesque foods are an understatement, as for the online stores CNY specials, she made chocolate koi which look shockingly real.
There are amongst other Chinese New Year goodies which you can check over here.
Li Nanxing
It’s no secret that Li Nanxing loves his food.
The guy who looks like Yan Fei in The Unbeatables served his Curry Chicken and Dried Scallop Hae Bee Hiam Croissant at Bakers & Co. Holland Village in November.
The Hae Bee Hiam he uses is even sold in jars at $15.70 per 170g jar.
But did you know that, in a twist on the CNY pastry, Li announced the launch of Hae Bee Hiam pineapple tarts at Parkway Parade NTUC FairPrice?
They currently go for $18.80 a bottle.
