Ever since researchers developed effective COVID-19 vaccines, the bulk of our vaccination efforts has been aimed at adults, especially older ones.
But young children are also exposed to potential infection every day, as they spend many hours in pre-schools and schools interacting with other kids.
This is why it’s important to get our young ones vaccinated too, to slash their risk of infection and severe disease.
And fortunately for parents, they can start booking appointments for their kids very soon.
Like tomorrow (22 Dec).
Confirmed: COVID-19 Vaccine Bookings for Kids Will Start from 22 Dec & Jabs Will Start from 27 Dec
The first round of COVID-19 vaccinations for children will begin on 27 Dec, starting with Primary 4 to 6 students.
Some 120,000 SMS invitations will be sent tomorrow to their parents to book appointments.
And from 27 Dec, parents of all other children born between 2009 and 2012, and who are not in MOE schools, can register their interest in the vaccination at the MOH National Appointment System (NAS) website.
Next up will be Primary 1 to 3 students; their parents will receive the same booking invitation from 3 Jan next year.
The last group in this vaccination drive will be all children aged five and above. They will be invited to make bookings from 10 Jan. Their parents can also register their interest at the NAS website.
