For ages, Singapore and Malaysia have enjoyed friendly, neighbourly ties with each other. And you can really tell that from their interactions with one another.

“As always, Singapore got the best food lah. Malaysia can’t stand a chance.” – Singaporean 2021

“Malaysia boleh. Singapore’s food is poor.” – Malaysian 2021

See, what friendly love they share. It’s so heartwarming.

S’poren Allegedly Dared M’sian to Hit Him; Claimed He’s Just a ‘Work Permit Holder’

And it seems that they’re at it again, as they indulged in a bout of what we call “tough love”.

Just yesterday (4 October 2021), Facebook page ROADS.sg posted an update on the social media platform, detailing an altercation that had occurred between two car workshops.

In the caption, it was revealed that JC Autoworks had borrowed tools from its neighbour, Car Doctor. As the mechanic for the former workshop was on his last day of work, he asked the mechanic for Car Doctor to retrieve the borrowed tools.

And so, the mechanic for Car Doctor, a Malaysian, set about his task in earnest.

While he was doing so, however, the boss of JC Autoworks, a certain Shawn Tan, decided to “intervene”. Armed with a “very rude” demeanour, Tan shouted at the mechanic and asked whether he was done.

In response, the mechanic for Car Doctor requested for Tan to “lower down his volume and talk nicely.”

As you may have surmised, the situation did not escalate in a nice manner.

Tan proceeded to walk over to the mechanic, and allegedly asked: “Then? Beat me la, here.”

At this point, he pointed to his face.

“You Malaysian work permit only lei!” Tan continued. “You dare beat Singaporean meh?”

He then allegedly slapped the Malaysian mechanic in the face.

Both of them swiftly got into a fight, and the police was eventually summoned.

An ambulance was also called in.

Apparently, Tan would later tell the police that his CCTV was broken, and that the footage cannot be retrieved.

“Coincidence much?” the caption wrote.

To date, the post has garnered over 240K views, as well as over 1K likes & reactions.

Netizens have also slammed Tan for his actions.

Meanwhile, others maintained that the issue was not about nationalities.

“Want to fight? Just fight…” one wrote.

“Don’t bring in whether you are Singaporean or Malaysian. This has nothing to do with your dispute.”

Some also questioned the questionable behaviour that went on before the fight.

“At the first place,” one Netizen wrote. “You borrowed stuff, why ask ppl come collect? Shouldn’t it be you going their shop and return?”

Whatever it was, one thing’s clear.

Singaporeans and Malaysians may argue about stuff.

But in the end, most’ll stand up for another.
