Russian Restaurant in Singapore Donating 10% of Sales from Delivery to Ukraine
Yup, you read that correctly.
Yesterday, a Russian restaurant in Singapore, Dumplings.ru, took to social media platform Facebook to announce their new scheme.

In their Facebook post that has since garnered almost a thousand reactions, the owners mentioned that they will be donating 10% of all their delivery sales “in support of the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine”.
An even better reason to support good food.
Based on their Facebook page, the restaurant has developed an application called the “DumplingRU App”, and you can order delivery from their restaurant through the application.
The restaurant provides a wide variety of Russian dishes, from dumplings (of course) to stews and salads.
Do note that they only provide delivery for orders $50 and above though!
Restaurant Has Received Hate Comments
Since Russian leader Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine with Russian troops, Russians all over the world have been subjected to negative stereotypes and remarks, and unfortunately, Dumplings.ru has experienced the same as well.
The post called for netizens to “be kinder in their words and refrain from leaving further hate speech in this humble space that [they] have created”, suggesting that they have been receiving unwarranted attacks from others during this period of time.

Owner is Actually From Ukraine
In the post, the couple who runs the restaurant, Vadim Zoubovski and Alena Zubovska, explained that although they sell Russian cuisine, their family members are currently based in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
Kyiv is currently under attack by the Russian army after Putin ordered an attack on Ukraine.
Additionally, although Vadim holds Russian citizenship, his birthplace is actually Ukraine. He and his wife, Alena, moved to Singapore in 2004 after he was posted to a job here.
The married couple are currently Singapore permanent citizens.
