Internet access is the equivalent of drinking water in the modern-day.
It’s pretty much impossible to live without it.
But you can’t just have the internet, you also need it to be fast.

Which is why 5G is becoming the new hotness nowadays.
But what’s also hot is a recent 5G advertisement by Singtel, only it…could be easily misinterpreted from afar.
‘Bring Back The Dead’
According to AsiaOne, Facebook user Darsh Daimontal recently shared a rather peculiar Singtel advertisement in a post on 29 October 2020.
Halloween just passed, but the ad is still a little spooky. You’ll see what I mean.
It seemed that the post tried to emulate how powerful 5G was, that it could show the family’s newborn child with hologram transmission.
However, Darsh posted the image with a joking statement, “5G can bring back your dead grandmother?”
The advertisement in Bugis MRT also seemed to be an accompanying piece for their trailer about 5G technology as well. Which clears up so much of the misunderstanding.
Some might argue that one could see a hologram transmitter on the floor.

But to be fair, it can be hard to tell at first glance.
The glowing aura of the grandma doesn’t really help it either.
The Internet Has Fun
The internet didn’t waste a moment.
As of this writing, the post has over 1,200 reactions, 76 comments and has been shared more than 5,700 times.
And boy, did people have fun in the comments.

While most were simply people laughing or tagging their friends, some took the chance to get creative.
There were those who took to critiquing other parts of the advertisement too.
At the end of the day, it’s just all in good fun.
Impactful Advertisements
While the ‘ghost’ grandma certainly got the internet in laughs, not every major advertisement gets that kind of response.
Just last year, the Panadol Ad got a lot of flak for how it portrayed the National Serviceman character in the video.

You probably have seen a portion of this on Youtube ad breaks too.
People thought that it was advertised to be used for self-medication simply to push through training. This prompted many negative responses in the comments.
On the flip side, an advertisement that looked like a Korean drama also emerged from Hyundai recently.
The story revolved around a man that goes to Hyundai for help, so his future father-in-law can walk down the aisle with his daughter.
