37YO Pregnant M’sia Singer, Siti Sarah, Dies from COVID-19 But Her Child Survives

For ages, we’ve been led to believe that COVID-19, as dangerous as it’s touted to be, only really affects the elderly and vulnerable.

Or at least, that’s what statistics have shown.

However, it’s imperative that we understand one thing: It could endanger anyone.

And the following case is prime exemplification of it all.

37YO Pregnant M’sia Singer, Siti Sarah, Dies from COVID-19 But Her Child Survives

Today might be a prestigious occasion for Singapore, but the same can’t be said for our neighbours across the causeway.

Indeed, it’s a day of mourning for Malaysia, as they’ve lost one of their most prominent entertainers.

At around 5:13 a.m., singer Siti Sarah Raisuddin succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19.

She had been pregnant with her fourth child just days before.

On 6 August 2021, a three-hour surgery was launched to save her son. And though complicated, the baby was eventually retrieved from her womb.

He was subsequently given the name Ayash Affan.

However, Siti Sarah was unable to hold her son before her demise.

In an Instagram post, her husband, who goes by the moniker Shuib Sepahtu, wrote:

“My heavenly angel has gone forever. I ask you to please give your Al-Fatihah.”

The singer had been admitted to the hospital on 4 August 2021, after going through low oxygen levels and serious coughing bouts.

Her whole family tested positive for the virus.

The famous singer had been responsible for numerous hits, including the powerful track Semakin.

It should be noted that many fans have since paid tribute to her on various platforms.

Fallen

Over the last year, the COVID-19 has claimed the lives of many.

Some of these may also be recognisable to the wider audience. These include the likes of:

  • Fashion designer Kenzo Takada
  • Musician Tommy DeVito
  • Broadway actor Nick Cordero
  • Veteran voiceover actress Julie Bennett

Our hearts go out to all the victims of this disease, and we hope that the situation will be restored to normal as soon as possible.
