According to World Of Buzz, the idea for this particular pillow seems to have stemmed from Shirane, a recent graduate of Tokyo’s Ochanomizu Institute of Art who reportedly designed the macho cushion as part of her graduate project.

Well, we’re not judging.

Thereafter, after receiving lots of positive feedback, she began a crowdfunding exercise to produce the pillow. She reportedly reached her target of 450,000 yen (RM17,195) before long.

According to SoraNews24, Shirane described the item as one that can heal emotional distress, as well as soothe the soul.

Pledgers can look forward to receiving their items in a few months, as it’s set to commence shipping in October. Though it seems that other merchants may have beaten Shirane to the punch, with various listings on sites like Aliexpress, Taobao and Funing Factory.

Prices seem to start from 97.56 RMB (RM59), and the body pillow measures 65 x 60 cm.
