I’ve always had an inherent fear that something might fall or fly into my ear when I’m asleep and bite me there. Or maybe even just bite my face off.

I know, that’s an oddly specific thing to be afraid of. You might think that this fear stems from seeing those ear wax removal videos and seeing doctors pull out insects one by one. Well yes, I’m deathly afraid of those, but that isn’t the reason why I had this fear. 

It was because I once walked under trees when I was much younger and a red ant fell into my ear and bit me. So ever since then, I was really afraid of insects coming close to my face.

But so far, nobody has ever gotten their face bitten while they were asleep, right?

Right??

Well, if there weren’t any cases like that before, there is now.

One-Month-Old Baby Gets Bitten In The Face By Huge Rat

A baby girl who was just a month old in Kampung Darussalam, Bogor, Indonesia, was enjoying her daily afternoon naps when she suddenly woke up crying in pain.

And the cause of it?

A huge rat.

More specifically, a huge rat biting her face off.

When the cries of pain were heard, her mother rushed out of the bathroom and found her daughter being bitten by a huge rat on the bed. It was biting mercilessly which only caused the poor baby girl to bleed profusely.

Aftermath

Since her husband was still out working, she was her daughter’s only hope. After chasing the rat away, she immediately sent her daughter to the hospital her injuries looked really severe.

When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor said that there were many bite wounds and he had to give her four stitches and tetanus shots to ensure her safety. The wounds were said to be quite deep, so they may leave a scar.

In order to recover and to prevent any infections, the baby girl is currently taking medication. Her mother is deathly afraid that the same situation may occur again because according to her, their house is always surrounded by rats. She never thought that the rats would actually be able to climb up the bed and attack her daughter.

Well hopefully, this situation doesn’t ever happen again to her or anyone. That must have been quite a traumatic experience for both the mother and her daughter. We hope that that the daughter recovers well and the wounds don’t leave a scar!
