Back in July this year, SMRT Feedback had several police reports filed against it.
Thankfully for the often-times snarky platform, the Singapore Police Force said they won’t be taking actions against it.
That hasn’t stopped the platform from disappearing from the social media landscape, leaving an apology post.
That was a few months back.
Well, if you find yourself missing an online vigilante to fill the void, you’ll probably be happy to know that they are back.
SMRT Feedback is Back & Has Removed Their Previous Apology
Since 30 Nov 2021, SMRT Feedback is back…with a vengeance.
Over the span of two days, the Facebook page uploaded a grand total of eight posts, including a change in their profile image.
The smoking cigar is gone and a mask replaced it.
The person behind the page, we shall just call him vigilanteh, also made a commitment to provide positive-only information.
I had an epiphany while away. I should start focusing on positive feel-good content. Times are tough now. Singapore will have the first case of the Omnicron variant in the next few days (my oracle tells me so). So, it’s better that this page promotes good vibes so you can at least get on with your day in a better mood.
But, of course, the snarkiness is here to stay.
Thus far, the page has touched upon everyday Singaporean stuff, including missing Malaysia (we get you), the ranking of Singapore in the cost of living here, and more.
Many Posts Removed
If you’re here because of the headline, you’ll probably know the apology post was removed.
But other than that, many more posts were similarly removed, including the post that got them into hot water, and the ones they made against The Online Citizen (TOC).
Back in April 2021, TOC took issue with Observer+ (a website that’s somewhat affiliated (though not entirely) with SMRT Feedback) reported traffic numbers.
It ended soon after, but when the entire Terry-Xu-and-foreign-writer saga blew up, SMRT Feedback went all out to do some investigative work and expose the unknown writer behind an inflammatory article.
You can read more about that here.
One thing for sure, though, it seems that there are still people who appreciate the vigilanteh’s snarky humour:
