Filial piety, though much-lauded and appreciated, could prove to be a controversial notion at times considering how in hindsight…
It can go down both positive and negative routes.

Son Allegedly Chopped Man in Woodlands to Stand Up for His Father
According to Lianhe Zaobao, one son’s act of indignance left the other party in a complete state of disarray, in a scene that can only be described as bloody and chaotic.
The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday (25 May 2021), at Block 304 Woodlands Street 31.
Apparently, his father had gotten into a dispute with another man, which prompted the former’s two sons to turn up at the scene.
One of the sons, who was holding a kitchen knife, then slashed the disputing party, leaving the latter in a bloody state with a large wound on his left arm.
The wound was so deep that the bones were visible.
Fled
After the assault, the victim reportedly fled to a grocery store.
The two brothers then ran away as well.
Later on, it was revealed that a 29-year-old man had been sent to the hospital in a conscious state.
A 32-year-old man has also since been arrested for intentionally wounding someone with a dangerous weapon.
Investigations are said to be currently ongoing.
Previous Instances
Despite these tumultuous times, bloody fights involving dangerous weapons have not been out of the ordinary.
Back in April 2021, a fight broke out between two middle-aged men in Yishun.
One of the men was stabbed with a chopper.
“There were two men shouting at each other,” said Stomper Tony. “My son went over to the lift lobby and saw both men struggling with a chopper in the lift.
“One of the men later leaned against my car and left bloodstains on the boot. Fortunately, no glass was broken and nobody died.”
And back in December 2020, a massive fight occurred at Clarke Quay, with some of the combatants involved in an alleged stabbing.
Blood was seen all over the area of the clash, which was surrounded by onlookers and police officers.
