It’s 26 December 2019, and you know what that means;
It’s time for the inaugural cryfest of the week, Tear Up Thursday!
As such, I bet you’re wondering with bated tears right now. What do I have in store for you this Tear Up Thursday? In response, I simply present to you the following article headline:
Son Meets Biological Mother Again After Being Missing For 30 Years Since He Was Only 3YO
Because if there was a fitting sobfest to end off this mundane hell of a week…
It’s a tearful reunion between long-lost family members.
The Fabled Year Of 2019
Our story begins all the way back in 1989 when dragons still ruled the sky and furries were considered “exotic”:
Our fabled protagonist, Li Jian, had gone missing from his home in Changzhi in Shanxi province.
According to The Beijing News, his family last saw riding his tricycle alone outside their home.
They wouldn’t see him again for a while.
Thereafter, Li, after being found at a police station, would be taken home by his adoptive father and will go on to live his life not as a Li…
But a Chen.
But Even Against All Odds, The Li Family Refused To Give Up
Throughout the years, Chen’s birth family never stopped searching for him and made it a point to put up as many missing-person posters as possible.
And as the years rolled by, the search would get significantly more hi-tech as well, with Li’s older sister putting up the missing-person notice on popular video-sharing app TikTok.
Yes, that Video-sharing app. But alas, it failed to work.
According to Chen’s birth sister, their father had passed away 10 years ago from his heavy drinking, as he allegedly berated himself for their son’s disappearance. Yet, despite his impending death at the time, their father refused to give up on the search, urging his wife to take on the mantle in his stead.
Truly, it’s a Korean drama in the making. Only difference here?
It’s real.
And Their Efforts Eventually Paid Off
According to reports, police from Changzhi city in Shanxi province had made a startling revelation roughly half a year ago in June:
Chen’s DNA reportedly matched his parents’ DNA in the police database.
Thereafter, they contacted the police in Henan province’s Xiuwu county, and the rest, as they say…
Is history.
Son Meets Biological Mother Again After Being Missing For 30 Years Since He Was Only 3YO
Li and his biological mother were eventually reunited, and the family reunion was a tearful one.
According to video footage of the reunion, Chen’s mother continuously reiterated how they were worried sick when he went missing, and how they’ve tried to find him for so long.
Chen’s birth family was also gratuitous towards Li’s adoptive parents for raising him and taking care of him.
You can watch the touching video here.
And That Ends Off Today’s Tear Up Thursday
It’s easy to take your parents’ love for granted, your family’s affection for nought. But always remember;
There are numerous cases out there who would kill to have what you have.
