The Chinese have a customary belief: you’re not encouraged to attend a funeral within a year of getting married, or after marriage.
It turns out that Koreans are not exempted from the superstition either:Â a newlywed attending a funeral shortly after their wedding is considered a taboo.
But it seems that respect takes precedence over customs, as newly-wed Song Joong Ki visited Kim Joo Hyuk’s mortuary just one day after his wedding.
Okay, a mortuary and a funeral is different, but it’s still relatively similar.
According to News1, the Descendants of the Sun star had visited Asan Medical Center on 1 November for Kim Joo Hyuk, a Korea actor, who passed away after a car accident.
Song Joong Ki had wedded his fiancee Song Hye Kyo at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul on 31 October.
Many of the wedding’s attendees, including Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Jong Kook, Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo and many more, made their way to Kim Joo Hyuk’s mortuary right after the Song-Song couple’s union.
Reactions
Netizens largely had nothing but praise for Song Joong Ki, with many applauding the Korean star for showing deep respect for the late actor.
