40-Year-Old Sora Ma Conceives Through IVF and Gives Birth to Baby Boy
Still remember the former Mediacorp actress, Sora Ma?
Yes, that Sora Ma — the one that acted in a number of your favourite Mediacorp shows, from “Love Thy Neighbour”, to “Crouching Tiger Hidden Ghost”.
Here’s a picture of the Malaysian actress to help jog your memory, in case you truly can’t recall who she is:
On Thursday (15 August), the 40-year-old actress (yes! she’s 40!) announced on an Instagram post that she had just given birth to her first child — a baby boy named Skye.
According to an interview with Lianhe Zaobao, Sora explained that the name “Skye” is Scottish and symbolizes hope and freedom.
The baby was meant to be due only on 15 August, but during Sora’s last prenatal check-up, the doctor found that the foetus was in a breech position. As such, a caesarean section, more commonly known as a c-section, was arranged to deliver the baby since the baby was already developing well and full-term.

“Being a new mom has turned my world upside down, especially with the challenges of breastfeeding, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” the actress added.
Sora shared with Lianhe Zaobao that she didn’t expect the pain that came with breastfeeding. She added: “I attended prenatal classes, but the instructor didn’t mention the pain, only the process. I was busy moving and renovating before giving birth and didn’t talk to other mothers about their experiences, so I didn’t prepare myself mentally.”
It truly isn’t easy being a mother.
