Imagine this.
Your big day is in two months’ time. You’re busy imagining how wonderful your wedding is going to be when suddenly, you can’t make an appointment for a wedding gown fitting.
Your super-friendly consultant could not be reached. The emails you’ve sent did not get any reply.
And when you go down to the shop, you realised a new studio had taken over. And if you want to continue with your contract, you’ll need to pay extra money.
Believe it or not, that’s what’s going on in Singapore right now.

The Aisle Bridal provide couples with a luxurious, beautiful and memorable wedding experience.
From wedding packages to gown rental, pre-wedding photography to even MV, they seemed like a pretty reputable bridal service.
Except for one small problem.
Since 7 Nov last year, the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) has received complaints from the public about this bridal shop.
According to the complaints, the previous representatives and owners of The Aisle Bridal Boutique and The Aisle Bridal Studio have become uncontactable.
A Change in Management
On 14 Aug 2018, The Aisle Bridal Boutique and The Aisle Bridal Studio announced that they’re undergoing a change in management.
However, they assured customers that things will still go on as normal.

Unfortunately for existing customers, this particular dream didn’t come true.
New Management Demanded Extra Fees to Continue With Contracts
Later, customers were told that a new company had taken over the premises.
And if they want to continue with their original wedding packages, they’ll have to pay an additional $900 to $2,250.
In total, customers of The Aisle Bridal has lost over $55,000 in prepayments to The Aisle Bridal Boutique and The Aisle Bridal Studio.
CASE Urge Customers To File A Cast At The Small Claims Tribunal
As the business is still live on ACRA, CASE encourages customers to file a claim on the small claims tribunal.
You can also approach them at their hotline 6100 0315 or website for assistance.
They’ve also advised couples to consider buying insurance that covers situations like this when they purchase bridal packages.
At least if the bridal agency closes down abruptly, you’ll still be able to get your money back, as they’ll have to liquidate their assets and pay the creditors first.
For tips on what to look out for when choosing a bridal agency, you might want to check what to look out for on their website.
