Honestly speaking, it’s rather easy to stereotype those working in the government sector as formal, dull and boring.

“They always look like someone just stabbed their hamster in the ass 69 times,” my bubbly colleague ITalkAboutOthersButNobodyCanTalkAboutMe once complained. “Bunch of sour pricks.”

And to his credit, they do seem to be that way. I mean; just look at Google.

Yeah, you kinda get it.

But of course, the fact remains that no matter how strong the stereotype is…

There’ll always be those who break away from it.

Tommy Eyesareslits, an Asian who hates rice, is one.

And First Secretary Michael Chew from the Singapore Embassy in Japan is definitely other with his jaw-dropping cosplay attire.

S’pore Embassy’s Official’s Cosplay As Civil Servant in Japan Goes Viral

According to Yahoo News Singapore, First Secretary Michael Chew from the Singapore Embassy in Japan attended the opening ceremony of the annual World Cosplay Summit (in Tokyo) over the weekend, where he was surrounded by dozens of cosplayers garbed in flashy anime-inspired costumes.

But here’s the thing. Although Chew wasn’t clothed in the most over-the-top costume, he still managed to stand out…

In his classic regular suit and tie combo.

One even mentioned how Chew could have potentially started a trend.

Though some suspected that the cosplay could have been of a different character:

The Business Fish, a character from Facebook’s stickers.

Keen to know the exact answer?

Well, you gotta ask the man himself.

But as this Netizen stated, it was undoubtedly…

Shirts and ties

Honestly speaking, it’s kinda interesting to see a more ‘formal’ employee partaking in something as genre-related as a cosplay event.

But then again, it might’ve all been a guise…

And he actually joined the Singapore Embassy in order to fulfil his ideal of being Business Fish.

Truth or a lie? Only the man will know.
