Accents- Once we hear someone not speaking in the “Singaporean accent”, we’ll automatically assume that they are from overseas. Sometimes we mimic them to prove that “hey, we can pull off these accents too!” It feels cool and different to be able to speak like your favourite British celebrities.
Whereas other times, it’s just a cringe feast.
Accent gone wrong?
There is nothing wrong with accents, really. Some of us have inculcated our accents from years of schooling overseas. We have friends that came back to Singapore with an accent, yet we still embrace them anyway.
What makes an accent a cringeworthy one? Years of encounters with accent have really taught Singaporeans how to differentiate an authentic one. Which is why this Social Media Influencer has been receiving lots of comments by netizens lately.

This cosmetics brand Rimmel London have showcased to the public some of the products that will be launching in Singapore. Featuring Social Media Influencer Isabel Tan, she introduces their products in the video that is posted on the brand’s Facebook. Apart from that, she has also introduced her cringeworthy articulation to us.
There’s a reason why their Facebook video got viral, though. We’ll let the comments do the judgement.
Seems like her accent got the better of her.
