If you’re a gambler or you’ve watched gambling movies, you’ve probably come across this saying:
“The house always wins.”
It basically means that gambling establishments are set up in such a way that the owners will always end up winning more than they lose.

So, even if one lucky woman wins a million dollars from a game in a casino, the house isn’t too bothered by it, because they just won 10 million the day before from others that weren’t as lucky.
In Singapore, however, we’ve had to develop a variant of that saying:
“The house always wins, unless it’s in Yishun”.
Very ‘Huat’ S’pore Pools Yishun Outlet With 34 Toto Winners To Close Forever
In addition to all the cat and human murders, Yishun is famous for one lucky Singapore Pools outlet.
The branch is located in a 7-Eleven stall along 102 Yishun Avenue 5, and is quite popular among gamblers.
See, over the years, this huat AF outlet has seen 34 TOTO winners, including 7 TOTO jackpot prize winners and 27 Group 2 winners.
Despite the fact that it hasn’t had big winners in recent years, the famed outlet has garnered a reputation, and residents often form long queues outside hoping to get a date with Lady Luck.
Sadly, though, the outlet will soon close down permanently to make way for the Chong Pang Integrated Hub.

Chill @ Chong Pang
Yishun will look very different in 2027.
Will dead cats and very much alive horses still appear in the infamous residential area? Of course, this is Yishun we’re talking about.
But residents of Chong Pang City have quite a bit to look forward to.
According to The Straits Times, a new futuristic integrated development named Chill @ Chong Pang will be completed by 2027 in Chong Pang City.
This hub will have swimming pools, a gym, fitness studios, as well as an upgraded hawker centre and community club.

The hub will be built at the site of Chong Pang Community Club in Yishun Ring Road and Block 102 Yishun Avenue 5.
The CC will close in the first half of 2022 when constructions works begin.
Hawkers to Get New Stalls
Meanwhile, hawkers and stallholders from Chong Pang Market and Food Centre will be moved to the new hub, which includes a whopping 179 stalls.
The good news is that these hawkers will get replacement stalls at the new hub.
Also, the site of the new hub has no residential units, so no HDB flat residents will be affected.

As for the existing hawker centre, it’ll be redeveloped into a community plaza by 2028, according to ST.
Sometimes, it’s hard to embrace modernity without first saying goodbye to a little history.
As one resident told Lianhe Wanbao, it may be nice to get a new, futuristic building, but the area might lose its kampung spirit.
The good news for gamblers is that there’s another Singapore Pools outlet nearby at Yishun Block 101.
Will it take over the title of Yishun’s Most Huat Outlet? Only time will tell.
