My boss often says, “Time is money. If you want to talk to me, make sure what you say is going to be productive, if not I’ll invoice you.”
Yes, he’s that nasty.
So I’ve always wondered why successful entrepreneurs would give courses to others on how to earn money with a niche.
You’d have seen them everywhere: from Forex experts to Amazon experts to Qoo10 experts who claim that all you need is a few hours a week to earn tens of thousands of dollars.
And the other thing that you’d need is a laptop.
If I were a successful entrepreneur, I’d have kept the secret to myself, and grow my business from a million dollars to a few hundred million dollars.
Maybe that’s why I’m still a lowly writer who earns just enough to have cai pngs daily.
If you still don’t get it, here’s an example.
Amazon Singapore Top Seller, Benjamin Tan
It doesn’t matter whether you’re #TeamYouTube or #TeamFacebook: as long as you go to the Internet, you would have seen his video ads.
Like this:
Or this.
Pretty impressive and legit, given it’s a Singaporean with a Singapore accent, a real house and a real car as well.
According to his videos, since he started selling in Amazon FBA, he had sold over USD$2 million worth of products.
And the best-est thingy is that he doesn’t need to wake up with an alarm clock.
I’m telling you, that’s my lifelong dream.
I’m not going to judge: if he has successfully made a business out from selling on Amazon, and earn millions of dollars just by working a few hours a day, good for him.
After all, I won’t have the money to join his course.
And all of a sudden, the self-made millionaire decided to host an AMA in Hardwarezone forums.
Lest you’re unaware, AMA stands for “Ask Me Anything”, whereby netizens can post questions and the thread starter replies. Usually, celebrities or people in unique jobs start an AMA to give people a better idea of their lives / jobs.
But for a person giving courses on how to be rich?
I guess you can imagine where this is going.
People Just Wanted His Ads to Stop Appearing on YouTube
Pretty sure if Goody Feed starts an AMA, people would just want our articles to appear in their Facebook newsfeed, or just ask when we’d be banned from the Internet, but anyways.
Benjamin started his AMA politely, but let’s just say that people were just focused on one thing: his ads that seem to appear in every single video.
Here, take a look at some complaints that were irrelevant:
Of course, the next most popular question is asking him to show his tax report…
…which he has declined.
Not sure why, but anyways.
Some believed it’s a kind of free advertisement.
What’s interesting is that despite all the rather crude and rude comments, Benjamin didn’t lose his cool.
While he avoided certain questions, he did reply to questions pertaining to selling on Amazon.
You can read the entire thread here.
So, what exactly is Amazon FBA?
Amazon FBA
Lest you think Amazon FBA is related to Facebook, you’re wrong.
The FBA refers to Fulfilment by Amazon; basically, Amazon does the logistics for you. All you need to do is to send your products to Amazon, and when customers order via Amazon, Amazon would collect payment and send the products to the customers.
As you can see, the challenge is finding products that work, and marketing them online.
On paper, it sounds relatively easy, but with 1.3 million products being added to Amazon each day, it’s an uphill task for your products to stand out.
According to Benjamin in the AMA, most of his customers are in the US, which has a large and mature market.
But of course, knowing how to sell and actually selling it are two different things altogether.
I don’t know about you, but maybe you can try buying Huawei phones at a low price now, and sell it via FBA? #justsaying
