If there’s one thing I love about the Singaporean spirit, it’s how fast we retort when people say bad things about us. Case in point, Time Out’s 2018 City Life Index.
In a survey where 15000 people were surveyed, Singapore ranked as one of the least exciting cities in the world, coming in at 31st place—out of a total of 32 cities.
Well, I’m not entirely sure what kind of people Time Out interviewed, but I’m just going to assume they interviewed people who don’t really understand Singapore.
And Singapore Tourism Board(STB) is here to make a point. Let’s take a look at their latest video, shall we?
Yeah, Time Out London, we’re pretty “unexciting”. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

With words like “boring”, “underwhelming” and “no art and culture”, you would think that the video is bashing Singapore—if not for the backdrop of footage of Universal Studios Singapore, Zouk Out, local delights and etc.
Heh, nicely done, STB.
Now, let us take a look at what some of the netizens have to say.
…I’m actually fairly surprised that the comments section has yet to evolve into a war zone. It’s nice to see people talking about this issue rationally, minus all the hate and negativity.
Now, while we gotta agree that Singapore might not be the most exciting place in the world, we aren’t exactly that boring either.
I must say that I agree with most of the comments here. To be honest, even though I have been travelling around for a fair bit, I have yet to fully explore Singapore.
I mean, I may have left my footprints in the sands of Gobi Desert, but I have yet to set foot on the wetlands of Chek Jawa. Perhaps it’s because of how readily available our home country is that we took such things for granted.
That being said, I think it’s time I make another trip to Pulau Ubin—just to slowly appreciate everything this nation has to offer.
