If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, you probably have heard others dissuade you from riding because of danger.
After all, people often say that when you ride a motorcycle, it is human flesh wrapping the metal. If you drive a car, the metal protects the human instead.
There is some sense to that, even though motorcycles are a more affordable and convenient way of travelling around Singapore on your own vehicle.
Unfortunately, the odds of a motorcyclist losing their life during a traffic accident are not low. This is made worse if the collision is with a big metal monster.
Here is the story of a young Singaporean man who passed away after his motorcycle collided with a trailer at the Second Link.
Man Dies After Motorcycle Collides With Trailer at Second Link
A Singaporean man with his female travelling companion was on the former’s motorcycle and on the way out of Singapore when tragedy struck.
At just a mere 9.5 km away from the Second Link, the motorcycle collided with the back of a motor trailer.
The impact caused the duo to be flung onto the road, according to The Straits Times, who spoke to the Malaysian police in charge of this incident.
The Iskandar Puteri police district was alerted about the accident at about 10.30 pm.
The victim, a Singaporean male named Mr Mohamad Ilyas Ilyasa Mohamad Ismadi, lost his life at the site of the accident.
He was only 23 years old at the time of his death. He had just completed his national service.
Pillion Rider Woman Survives the Accident
Thankfully, his female companion managed to escape the clutches of death.
Ms Nur Surya Emelya Mohamad Imran, who is a 22-year-old, was riding pillion behind the victim.
She was taken in an unconscious state to Sultanah Aminah Hospital, based on reports from The Straits Times’ Malaysian sources, and later discharged to be taken to a hospital in Singapore.
The accident appeared to be quite gruesome, as images of a man lying on the road surrounded by a pool of flood were circulating on online sources such as Facebook.
Another person can be seen lying next to him.
Many people sent their condolences to the victim’s family as they weathered through this tough time.
On Facebook, the victim’s father reportedly said it was “painful and heartbreaking” to see his son for the last time.
