Nokia has, for a very long time, laid siege to the title ‘The Smartphone version of the Hulk‘. And as anybody can attest to, it’s definitely not undeserved.
But it seems that there’s a real hotshot shooting up the ranks, demanding an audience with the indomitable Nokia.
The punk in question? An iPhone 8 Plus.
Yeah, real surprising, isn’t it? After all, the iPhones might be nice to look at, but they aren’t exactly the ones you will call up to fight alongside you in a battle to the death.
But check this piece of news out:
Apparently, an iPhone 8 Plus managed to live despite being inside a Mercedes that burst into flames.
What happened?
On 26 November, a Singaporean lady had taken her friend’s Mercedes back to her apartment in the evening. As soon as they reached the destination, they smelled something burning, so they alighted to check it out.
According to the lady, the fire started to spread rapidly, and the car was engulfed in flames within mere minutes.
“The front part of the car was already fuming and there were sparks,” she said. “My friend and I immediately moved away from the car. Then we heard four or five explosions coming from the car right after.
Sadly, they could do nothing but inform the fire brigade. And watch as the car burns.
Poor Mercedes… what has it ever done to warrant such a brutal death?
Anyway, there’s just one small thing I conveniently forgot to mention: the car wasn’t the only one facing the eighteenth gate of hell.
There was a brand new $1000 iPhone 8 Plus, which belonged to the aforementioned lady, resting in the car too. In fact, it’s so new that she hasn’t even gotten around to unboxing it.
So yeah, you get the gist. Although I can’t even begin to imagine the pain, sorrow and intense hatred the lady must have been feeling.
But incredibly, the unthinkable happened.
“After the fire was put out, the firemen retrieved the phone for me. I noticed the box was burnt, but the phone suffered absolutely no damage at all! What a miracle!” she added.
A smartphone technician was as surprised when he found out about it too. In the first place, most phones would melt under high temperatures. And even if they don’t melt, the battery and LCD screen would most likely be damaged.
“Even if the phone is enclosed in a box, it wouldn’t help much either,” the technician said. “Unless the phone is wrapped in other materials that can reduce the destructive force of the fire.”
Which makes the fact that the phone had survived completely intact, all the more mind-boggling.
You know; I can’t help but feel that there’s only one possibility.
The iPhone 8 Plus is a horcrux.
Hurry, kill it with a Basilisk fang before it breeds!
Why did the Mercs catch fire at the start?
The police has released a statement, saying that the car had caught fire because of overheating.
How do I put this…
Just picture this: your Grab driver’s been driving his car all day long and you happen to be the last passenger of the day. Just as you’re about to you reach your destination, the car starts making weird noises and the next thing you know you’re surrounded by flames and you can’t get out and you can only watch as everything burns down…
Scary, mate…
To prevent such scenarios from happening, please for the mother of Bob take care of your cars.
We don’t want any more Michael Bay-esque explosions in Singapore, thank you very much.
Alternatively, you can also get an iPhone 8 Plus.
If that shit doesn’t work, nothing will.
