St Andrew’s Secondary Responds to Viral Video of Student Threatening Teacher

Just two days ago (23 Aug), a spicy video of a St Andrew Secondary School student pointing and cussing out at a staff member surfaced on the internet.

It was a rare sight indeed.

Usually, the students are quite respectful to the school authorities (or at least they won’t be disrespectful to their faces), since extra practice papers and detention plus a stain on our records can genuinely put the fear of God in us.

Imagine the Parent-Teacher Conferences. Or the remarks in our report book.

The school will never forget the transgression, and neither will we.

What Happened?

At the start of the 55-second video, it immediately cuts to the staff member pointing at the student and warning him not to scold him.

The student shot back rudely, “What are you going to do about it?”

The argument continues to escalate as the student tells the staff member to “get a bloody life first”, to which the staff member told him not to utter the “four-letter word”.

A few classmates in the background clearly felt that the fire wasn’t hot enough to burn, so they added more fuel by chanting “fight, fight” and then laughing.

The video cuts to the next clip where the student pointed at the staff member, with his hand touching the staff member’s forearm.

The latter proceeded to yell at the student not to touch him repeatedly.

Then, the boy issued a threat, “You watch your mouth, I will end your life right now.”

Um, how did we get to murder so quickly?

A man, who was originally standing in the doorway, eventually intervened upon hearing those words.

The video ended with the boy telling the mediator to go away.

Student Has Been Disciplined

In a statement released on Wednesday (24 Aug), St Andrew’s Secondary School said that they do not condone such disrespectful behaviour towards the school’s staff and the student in the viral video has been disciplined.

The school added that they have contacted the student’s parents and will be working closely with them to “guide and counsel” the student.

No further detail about why or how the argument broke out was given.

It is also unclear when the video had been shot.
