These days, it’s pretty hard to find good and quality food at affordable prices – especially those that are Instagram-worthy and doesn’t cost us a bomb. Sometimes, we just want to treat ourselves to a good meal without having to cause a strain on our wallets, right?
Well, absolutely right. And if you are a fan of all-things-pasta, here’s where you should head to for your next lunch or dinner spot – especially if you are someone who lives in the East!
But I mean, even if you live in the far West, we assure you that this will be very much worth the 1-hour train journey to the other side of Singapore.
Homemade Chilli Crab pasta at just S$10.50
Here at The Pasta Boutique, you’ll be able to find cafe fares at a hawker centre. Located at New Century Food House in Bedok North, this humble stall sells a variety of Western grub with homemade pasta. Yup, we are talking about fresh pasta prepared in-stores daily.
Other than pasta, you’ll also be able to find other mains such as the Seabass with Spicy Salsa Verde ($12.80) and Mediterranean Style Stripling Steak ($18.50).
This Western stall was first started by Chef Eddie who used to work at Marriott and Four Seasons and his partner, Mark, who believed that good pastas and Western cafes should never come with an expensive price tag.
Good Western food without the expensive cost
And, if you were wondering, yes, the homemade chilli crab pasta comes served with a generous portion of crab meat chunks – made with real crab meat, by the way.
The sauce, too, boasts a spicy tang with a distinct and aromatic touch of the crab meat flavour. At just S$10.50, this dish definitely gives customers a bang for their buck.
Other favourites also include the Salted Egg Prawn Ravioli ($13.80) that came encased with fresh prawns. The ravioli is then bathed in creamy salted egg yolk sauce and topped with chopped chilli padi and curry leaves.
And yes, the ravioli is prepared in-house too! On first look, you might think that the portions are a little small but we assure you that it’s extremely filling due to the thickness of the pasta!
For those who are on a budget, you can also opt for the Chicken Chop with Herbs & Spices that is priced at just S$8.80! It is served with mixed vegetables, mashed potato and an accompanying sauce.
Now you get what we mean when we say we are more than willing to travel all the way to the East for this?
