Animal abuse is sickening.
When we have pets in our care, it’s our responsibility to ensure that all their basic needs are being met.
But some people simply don’t care, which is why you often hear of people physically abusing their pets or abandoning them on the streets.
Chained to a metal grille
That’s what happened to one poor dog who was chained to a metal grille by its cruel owners and left to starve.
You can see that the dog is clearly malnourished, with its frail, emaciated body. Its bones are visible and it looks very weak.
Thankfully, there are people out there who care enough to take these dying animals under their care and nurse them back to health.
Rescuers managed to bring the dying dog to the nearest vet and started feeding it food and water.
No one knows how long this poor dog went without any form of sustenance.
What’s especially heartbreaking, though, is the look in the dog’s eyes – a look of fear and pain.
Recovered, but still afraid
Due to the speedy medical attention and sustenance it received, the dog slowly started recovering from its malnourishment.
Once it was in a better state of health, it was placed in foster care, waiting for new parents to come and bring it to a new forever home.
However, despite making a recovery, it still had the look of fear in its eyes, as you can see.
Just like humans, emotional trauma for dogs can be worse and more damaging than physical abuse.
Fortunately, though, this story has a happy ending.
Found a new home
According to World of Buzz, once it was adopted into a new home, the dog started to get more comfortable and even started to show its playful side!
And now instead of fear, we see comfort and happiness in the dog’s eyes.
If this doesn’t warm your heart, you should probably see a doctor. A dog that was once chained and left to starve and die has been nursed back to health and is now under the care of a loving new owner.
The dog’s heartwarming recovery was shared in a Facebook post by animal activist group A Fortress of Fur. In it, they said “Reason why every rescue matters. It makes a huge difference to that single soul who wants to be free from misery and live a life.”
Have we become so depraved that the tiniest gesture of love towards another human or animal is celebrated like an amazing achievement? Sadly, the answer is probably yes.
When it comes to animals, we should be aware that some of them, especially pets, are wholly dependent on us.
If you’re not willing to put in the time and effort to take care of a new pet, please, don’t bring them home.
On the other hand, if love animals and are thinking of getting one, please adopt instead, because you might just save a life.
