Though I like all things Korean, I’m not so much a fan of Korean dramas because they are all super drama-mama.
Typical story:
Guy meets girl, falls in love, about to get married, girl founds out she has a terminal illness (usually cancer), left guy without telling him the reason, refusing to tell him… and the whole 26 episodes revolve around the same thing.
K-drama lovers, don’t throw rotten eggs, fruits and vegetables at me.
It’s true.
Every time my mum watches a Korean drama, the bin beside her would be full. You know why?
Cause her tear glands become very active, and she wastes tissue.
The sweet guys in Korean dramas don’t exist. Or do they?
Hmm, maybe only this ONE real-life encounter.
This is what happened in Korea.
I’m going to give this Korean woman a name: Mina
Mina received a favour from an extremely sweet Korean guy on the bus but didn’t get his name so she put up a Facebook post on an anonymous Facebook Page.
Here’s the story:
Can’t read? Don’t worry. Thank God I can put my language skills to use.
Here’s the almost drama-like story:
Mina explained that she has an irregular menstrual cycle and that she happened to be on a bus when her period came.
So before she knew, it leaked and seeped through her dress. She didn’t know what to do because she was embarrassed.
But thank God, the kind man who was sitting near her found out what was going on and decided to help her.
He went over to her, pretended to spill some strawberry milk near her, took off his jacket and gave it to her.
He then apologised for “spilling the strawberry milk” and asked her to use the jacket to cover herself before leaving.
But before she could thank him, he got off the bus.
But thanks to the Facebook post, they were reconnected through his friend, Dong Gun.
The man’s real name was Sung Hyun.
As proof, Dong Gun shared a screenshot of their KakaoTalk chat on the post.
Here’s the translation. You can thank me later:
Mina then offered to buy him a new jacket and treat him to a meal. But guess what this sweet guy said?
He meant:
He simply asked for a strawberry milk.
I don’t know about you but apart from him being such a sweetheart, I’ve got a thing for a guy who drinks strawberry milk.
Especially a Korean guy.
I change my mind. A Korean guy drinking anything.
Just anything.
Do you think this will ever be ‘reenacted’ in Singapore?
Well, in my opinion, maybe if you’re a #ChioBu, then you will get this kind of treatment.
