In the past couple of weeks, thereโs been a notable scarcity of popcorn all across stores in Singapore and even our houses.
Thatโs largely because new episodes of the saga involving employees of Night Owl Cinematics and its co-founder Sylvia Chan are seemingly released every few days.
Things took yet another left turn yesterday when MS News published an exposรฉ where former and current employees went on the record to detail employee abuse in the workplace.

Allegations included:
- receiving a letter from Sylvia demanding approval before engaging in any external communication after news of her alleged mistreatment made the news
- a highly stressful work environment with long hours (sometimes till 5am)
- late payments
Sylvia also allegedly called NOC co-founder and her ex-husband Ryan Tan and YouTuber Dee Kosh โf**king egoisticโ and โpoorโ.
That was quite a lot to take in, right? Well, you wonโt believe it, but thereโs more.
Leaked Videos of Sylvia in Zoom Meeting Portray How She Handles Feedback
Today (20 Oct), the group of former and current ex-employees leaked a video of a Zoom meeting between Sylvia and several NOC employees, as well as co-founder Ryan.
The video, as well as a lengthy list of allegations, was published by the group on a blog post titled, โEnd the Silenceโ: Speaking Up About NOC Sylviaโs Alleged Crimes.
The leaked video begins with a clip of an employee airing her grievances over a lack of manpower, and what sounds like a high workload.
Sylvia seems indifferent to her employeeโs concerns throughout the exchange, and even starts clacking away on her keyboard and smirking.
In the next clip, Ryan takes issue with something Sylvia allegedly said in the past, accusing her of โstirring sh*tโ by claiming that a certain โsomeoneโ in the company had called Ryan an incompetent leader.

He keeps asking who this โsomeoneโ is, and even though Sylvia allegedly said sheโd reveal the identity of the person in the next meeting, she refused to name the person.
In the end, Sylvia says sheโs the one who thinks Ryan is a bad leader.
The argument reportedly got more heated, prompting Ryan to leave the meeting. At that point, Sylvia asks two other employees if theyโd like to replace Ryan as project manager. When they both decline, Sylvia asks them to leave the meeting.
In the next video, which is over five minutes long, Ryan speaks on behalf of disgruntled employees at the company, going through the litany of complaints such as late payments and long working hours (sometimes till 4am).
โI can tell you the day I say I quit a lot of people will quit,โ Ryan says in the video. โHonestly speaking, this is not humaneโ.

While Ryan details the grievances of his employees, Sylvia, once again, looks uninterested and uses her phone from time to time.
At one point, Ryan says that heโs raised the same concerns about Sylviaโs management style โover and over againโ for eight years.
In response, Sylvia says, โThe problems that you think youโre speaking out for on behalf of a lot of staffโฆlet me know how we can move forward about my management style so that we can all be a happier team with higher morale.โ
Well, that certainly is a head-scratcherโฆ
