Sick and tired of having people fold and slide their flyers between your gate and the door?
Hate the fact that flyers are littering all over the floor of the corridor outside your home?
Wish that it could all remain in one spot for when you have the time to slowly go through it?
If you find yourself nodding to all three questions above, someone is going to grant your wish.
That’s if you live in Tampines, that is.
Tampines Town Council Offering a Free ‘Flyer Box’ on Their HDB Gates
On 17 Aug 2020, the Tampines Town Council took to their Facebook page to upload a piece of welcome news:
Called the Tampines Town Council flyer box, this is essentially a box that is given free-of-charge to Tampines residents.
Basically, it’s a box that you can hang outside your gate.
Any advertisers or flyer distributors who hope to entice you into buying their services can slot their flyers in there.
How To Get Them:
Staying within the jurisdiction of Tampines GRC? You lucky person, you!
This box won’t be made available to every household, unfortunately.
To get it, you have to register your interest here
Each household is only entitled to one flyer box so if your relatives in Jurong wants one, they have to either make one for themselves or ask their town councils to do the job.
Once you’ve filled in the form, the box will be mailed to you, although given the Covid-19 pandemic right now, it might take a little bit more time than usual.
But hey, at least once you’ve set it up, you can (probably) say goodbye to flyers on the floor or sticking out at awkward angles from your gate.
Now if only they have something to stop people from pasting stickers on your gates.
Speaking Of Unwanted Flyers…
That solves the problem of flyers at your gates, but what about within your letterbox?
Did you know that SingPost’s website actually has an option that allows you to opt-out of receiving advertising flyers and brochures?
While it’s not exactly foolproof and you can still receive flyers within your letterbox (not from SingPost but by distributors who slides them in), it still helps in cutting out a lot of admails.
You can find out how to do so here.
