Although it goes without saying that we ought to bear the weight and consequences of our own actions, there are always people who try to evade responsibility in any way possible.
Even if it means literally racing away from a lorry on the road.
Yesterday (25 April) morning, SG Road Vigilante – SGRV uploaded the following video to their Facebook page:
In the eight-minute clip, a lorry driver and his passenger can be heard cursing loudly and shouting at a taxi driver.
The driver also appears to be chasing after the taxi, which is slightly ahead of them.
The duo eventually lost chase of the driver, but managed to note down his car plate through the footage that they had captured.
A Case of Hit and Run, Taxi Driver’s Fault
According to the driver and his passenger’s speech, it seems like the taxi driver rear-ended the lorry before escaping the scene without taking responsibility.
The video also showed the front of the taxi, which was rather badly dented.
In comparison, the rear of the lorry was also damaged, and one of the rear lights was knocked out of its position.
Throughout the video, the driver, in particular, was extremely enraged and screamed non-stop in the direction of the taxi.
At one point, he even wound his window down while at a traffic junction and pointed accusingly at the taxi.
“Okay, this taxi hit my car, hit and run, never stop the vehicle. Stop the side road! Stop the side road!” the man yelled.

Netizens’ Comments
In the video that has since amassed over 137,000 views and 260 comments on Facebook, many netizens criticised the taxi driver’s irresponsible behaviour.
However, a couple of netizens also questioned the necessity of the lorry driver giving chase, noting that the duo could have just jotted down the car plate number of the taxi before handing the case over to the police or taxi company, which in this case was ComfortDelGro.
There were also netizens who found the scene amusing, especially after witnessing the lorry driver’s agitated speech when he could have just handled the issue over to the relevant authorities.
Someone even jokingly commented, “Then langgar (hit) him from behind lah!! Then let him chased u back!!”
