Teacher Charged with Taking 168 Upskirt Videos in the Secondary School He Taught In

You already read the title and are probably upset and trust me, so am I.

No student should ever need to feel unsafe at school, especially if they’re around a teacher.

Sadly, while there are many good teachers out there, there’ll always be one or two bad eggs.

And today is, unfortunately, a story about the latter type.

Years Of Perversion

On 23 June, a male teacher was charged in court on Tuesday over allegations that he had recorded many upskirt videos.

You might be thinking maybe around 10 or even 20 but that’s not even close.

According to the Straits Times, the 47-year old male teacher took around 168 of such videos.

He reportedly committed these offences from April 2015 to July 2018 and was charged with six counts of insulting a woman’s modesty.

However, it wasn’t revealed if the videos were of students or fellow teachers.

Out Of School Shenanigans

But his actions weren’t just confined to the school.

He was also accused of insulting the modesty of two other women outside of school, one of whom is his own relative.

On 1 Feb 2017, he allegedly took an upskirt video of his relative.

On 20 Mar 2017, he took an upskirt video of an unknown woman at Tiong Bahru Plaza shopping mall.

Suspended Since Jul 2018

The Ministry of Education (MOE) said that the man has been suspended from service since July 2018 and is no longer teaching in any school.

“MOE takes a serious view of staff misconduct and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who fail to adhere to our standards of conduct and discipline, including dismissal from service.”

Other Recent Harassment Cases

Remember, sexual harassment comes in many different forms.

On 22 Jun, a 67-year-old man sentenced to four months of jail for trying to repeatedly kiss and hug a family maid.

He attempted to get ‘friendly’ with her even after repeated rejection.

Eventually, she took to reporting to her maid agency and the man was also charged with the outrage of modesty.
