Teenager Pleads Guilty to Filming Naked Boys at Public Swimming Pool Toilet; Had 2 Phones With 58 Obscene Films

A teenager has been charged with the making of obscene material. Apparently, he had recorded more than 50 films of naked boys.

He was caught on 19 October 2019, after being found out by a victim’s father at a public swimming pool complex.

The accused, who was 15 at the time, had ventured to Sengkang Sports Complex on 22 September 2019 and taken videos in the men’s toilet, and later returned on 19 October 2019 to record more material.

He targeted a boy who had just finished his swimming lesson, but was caught by the boy’s father.

Spotting the accused’s phone, the older man confronted him and eventually sought out staff members.

Meanwhile, the accused, who was frightened, reportedly stowed himself away in one of the toilet cubicles. He was later forced to come out upon the arrival of the police, and had to surrender his phone.

In total, 58 obscene films were found across two phones.

Sentencing

In court, the prosecutor took the accused’s young age and absent offending history into account, and did not reject a probation suitability report.

However, he stated that considering the significant amount of offences in this case, the boy could be considered a serial offender.

Meanwhile, the accused’s mother questioned why her son was trialled in a state court and not a youth court, as he was 15 at the time of offence. In response, the prosecutor said that it was because the youth was charged only when he was 16 – due to the time taken to prepare the case, in light of the high number of offences the boy had incurred.

As for the accused, he reportedly expressed nothing in mitigation.

He pleaded guilty to 10 counts of making an obscene film on Tuesday (16 March), with 48 other counts set to “be taken into consideration”.

The teenager is due to return to court for sentencing next month.

Crimes Against Males

In 1999, Singaporean Chan Cheng, now 61, molested five teenage boys at a school camp and later fled to Malaysia to avoid prosecution.

He was trialled in July 2019, where he was found guilty of all five counts of molestation.

Meanwhile, a freelance tutor, who has already been jailed twice for sexually abusing young boys he met online, recently pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual penetration of a minor.

And we haven’t forgotten about the infamous male nurse incident – whereby a man, who had gone to the clinic for an endoscopy and was sedated, was shocked when he woke up to a man molesting him.
