Temasek Foundation to Distribute Free Hand Sanitiser From 12 Apr; Residents Can Collect From 108 Vending Machines

Before 2020, what were the three things you valued most in the world?

Reader: Well, definitely my loved ones, friends, and partner.

They’re not here now, dear reader, you can be honest.

Reader: Okay, it was actually my phone, Netflix account, and bubble tea subscription plan.

That sounds more like it.

Nowadays, though, humanity’s three most prized possessions are: face masks, toilet paper, and hand sanitiser.

Thanks to the coronavirus, demand for these items has increased exponentially, leading to price hikes.

Fortunately, one foundation which has already distributed several free reusable masks to residents will now give out hand sanitisers too.

If you like free things and aren’t a fan of contracting deadly viruses, I have some good news for you.

Thanks to Temasek Foundation, each household here will be able to collect 500ml of free zero-alcohol hand sanitiser from 12 April onwards.

The non-profit organisaton, which is under the philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings, announced the move in a Facebook post on Tuesday (30 Mar).

Between 12 and 25 April, residents can collect the hand sanitiser from 108 vending machines across the country.

These vending machines can be found at community centres or clubs and at Temasek Shophouse at Orchard Road.

Each household will be able to collect 500ml of zero-alcohol hand sanitiser produced by local company Klenco.

The sanitiser has been coloured purple so that it looks different from plain drinking water, Temasek Foundation said.

Collection Process

So, how do you collect your free hand sanitiser?

When heading to a vending machine, bring your Singapore Power (SP) utilities bill, as well as your own bottles to collect the sanitiser. The maximum height allowed for the bottle is 23cm and 11cm for the width.

The SP bill for March and April, in print or online, will contain a special QR code with residents’ SP account number.

Simply scan the QR code at the vending machine readers or key in your SP bill number on the touch screen.

A #BYOB bottle sticker will then be generated and the vending machine will dispense 500ml of #BYOBclean sanitiser.

You may also use several bottles instead of one if you wish, but the amount of sanitiser dispensed will not change.

In addition to conducting four distribution exercises for free reusable masks, the foundation also distributed 500ml of free zero-alcohol hand sanitiser at community clubs and 16 CapitaLand malls in March 2020.
