“Whatever it takes.”
That’s Captain America what any super-determined person would say about achieving their goals.
Well, one Texas man took the statement to a whole new level when he went to a bank and forced the seller to give him cash, saying that he had a gun.
All It Took
36-year-old Heath Bumpous walked into Citizens State Bank and told the teller to hand over the money. He said he had a gun.
Heath told the teller that he needed money to pay for wedding rings and the wedding venue for the next day.
That was all it took to get him cash.
The man can be seen in what looks to be CCTV footage, dressed in all-black attire.
I gotta say though, he definitely looks the part of a robber. Must’ve been all the Hollywood shows he watched growing up.
Just one thing is missing: a ski mask perhaps? I mean, his face isn’t concealed making it easy for police to identify him… amirite?
In this case, in an ironic twist, it was his girlfriend who identified him:
An Honest Girlfriend
Mr Heath’s girlfriend saw police surveillance video stills on Facebook and immediately recognized her sweetheart.
His girlfriend called him as he was hightailing back to his hometown about 30 minutes away. She convinced Heath to turn himself in.
And he did.
(Ah sweet love)
Charges
Heath told the same story to Sheriff Woody Wallace: that he needed money to buy rings and to pay for his wedding venue tomorrow.
Sheriff Wallace recovered the clothes that Heath threw out of the car window as he was making his escape, and also the gun used in the crime.
Bumpous has been charged with aggravated robbery and most of the stolen money has been recovered.
Movie Inspiration
Doesn’t this story play out like a movie? Guy does anything for love but the gem of a girlfriend tells him to do the right thing and give himself up.
I think they’ll get married and live happily ever after. It’s still a better love story than Twilight.
Here’s a simplified summary of the South Korea martial law that even a 5-year-old would understand:
