Thought that the naked grandma scene from IT Chapter Two was absolutely terrifying?

Well, wait till you see this.

Just recently, a primary school pupil in Lamphun, Thailand, made global headlines for all the wrong reasons, when he was pictured doing…

This.

Floating clowns? Naked grandmas? Your own face in the mirror?

Nah, this one takes the cake. By a mile.

Thai Parents Let Son Sit On Top Of Moving Car, Said It Was His ‘Habit’

Vacationing in Lamphun, Thailand right now and regularly taking to the road?

Well, you might’ve actually chanced upon this mortifying scene… first-hand.

Reportedly on his way home, the primary school pupil was spotted perched atop a moving car as the vehicle navigated a busy traffic junction in Lamphun, Thailand. And to make matters worse?

His own parents had allowed the dangerous act to happen.

Needless to say, Netizens were enraged.

And they wanted blood.

“This is so dangerous, how could you allow this?” wrote a Facebook user who shared the photos on Wednesday (11 September 2019).

Others questioned why the child was sitting on the car’s roof, with some wondering whether it was an intentional act to garner attention.

A few even threatened to “teach the parents a lesson”.

‘Clarification’

After the whole hoo-hah, the child’s father, who was reportedly behind the wheel that day, stepped out with a clarification:

His son had been insistent on climbing through the sunroof and had made a fuss until he ultimately gave in.

Now, I’ve no idea whether it’s true (someone touch his heart), but it seems that the damage has been done. According to reports, the boy’s mother was eventually detained for questioning, and her husband was fined 500baht (S$23) for not equipping a seatbelt on the child.

The woman has since said that her son had a habit of sitting on top of the car, and had actually been doing it for some time.

Well, guess the police arrived just in time, then.

Court Sentence

Apart from the fine, the court will decide on an appropriate punishment for driving without due care and attention, in the process endangering others.

Should the father be found guilty, he may face prison time of up to three months or a hefty fine between 2,000baht (S$90) and 20,000baht (S$903).

Thought The Worst Part’s Over? Think Again, Because This Incident Isn’t The First

And it’s not even in an ever kind of context.

It’s this year alone.

In January, a woman’s four-year-old son was filmed taking a joyride on the roof of her car, and the Australia-based woman was eventually charged with dangerous driving.

And in July, a driver in Johor was arrested after two boys (one of whom is his son) were seen grabbing the rear-end of his car as he raced through the red light at a busy traffic junction.

Now, what can I say?

It seems that the world might be f*cked before the sun even burns us out. 🙂

And So… What Should We Do?

Remember how they ask us to take care on the road?

Well, you might want to add an extra sentence if you’ve children in tow;

Take care on the road, and make sure that your children are settled down well…

And not peeking through the roof for a free suntanning session.

Because let’s face it, a hefty fine would be the more fortunate result.

Let’s not make the other possibility a real thing, alright?
