All companies have these two types of workers, a busy worker and a productive worker. Let’s look at the 5 main differences between a busy worker and a productive worker.
Usage of time
The proper usage of time is what a productive worker does, he’ll be able to allocate time properly for all the things that he wants and needs to do, but a busy worker will only be complaining about time, complaining about the deadlines to meet, tasks to be completed, and in the end, they’ll be sacrificing their sleep, working overnight to complete all tasks and assignments.
Priorities
What makes a busy worker so busy is because of the number of priorities that they have in their lives. They prioritize every single thing in their life, they feel that everything is so important to them and they have to complete it in time. But a productive worker prioritizes the few important things that they know they will produce results when they complete it. They will not make themselves so busy that they have no time for their own personal life, a productive worker always has much lesser priorities than a busy worker.
Results
This is the key difference between a busy worker and a productive worker. Busy workers will only speak about how busy they are, going around telling people about what they are going to do, what they have to do, and always letting people know that they have tons of work to do but they don’t speak about what they have not done yet. Productive workers don’t tell their family and friends about being busy, they produces results. They are focused on the important stuffs that have to be completed, and they don’t have to talk, simply because the results will do the talking for them.
Focus
Busy workers are busy, because they focus on too many stuff, they feel that they are doing a great job by multi tasking everything that they have on hand, but the truth is, they make themselves too busy for everything. Productive workers will also multi task, but only on a few important things that has to be done. They put their focus on the tasks they have on hand that are important and can produce results, instead of doing everything they have on hand and produce the same kind of results
Replying and respond
We always have to give answers or replies to questions, emails or anything from our clients/customers when we’re at work, the difference between a busy worker and a productive worker is how quickly they respond to it. A busy worker will give an answer almost immediately, they will not have second thoughts to anything, and they make decisions within few minutes time. A productive worker will always think before responding, they will take their own sweet time and think carefully before giving a direct answer. Think about it, if you have 10 emails asking you to complete 10 different assignments, are you going to accept all of them, or are you going to think carefully before selecting 2-3 assignments and focus on it?
