Okay, granted that it’s 2018 and people are downloading apps to communicate with ghosts, buying kim zua online and even 3D printing everything, but there would always be a person in your group who believes in the supernatural.
Especially this month. Or to be even more specific, especially on 25 August 2018.
If you Google for Hungry Ghost Festival, you’ll see that there’s an exact date for the festival.
Wait, isn’t it supposed to be a month-long thingy?
Yes and no.
According to beliefs, the gates of hell are open for the entire seventh month, so ghosts would roam the earth freely. As the ghosts might disturb people, offerings are made so that they would toe the line.
For this year, the entire seventh month is from 11 August 2018 to 9 September 2018.
However, there is a huge significance on the 15th of the seventh month, which falls on 25 August 2018.
While the first and last day of the festival are equally importantly, the mid-month, which is the 15th, is commonly known as the real “Hungry Ghost Festival”, whereby people make offerings as well.
Here’s why: it’s believed that after two weeks, the ghosts are hungry again, so unless people make offerings again, they would get angry and disturb the living.
Once that is done, it supposedly pleases the ghosts and they won’t harm the living.
If you intend to stay out late next Saturday, do remember this: there might be super hungry ghosts roaming around earth. Just make sure you know the taboos, and if possible, sleep early.

But of course, you should be sleeping early every day this month, shouldn’t you?
P.S. Just a fun fact, The Nun, which I believe is one of the more highly anticipated movie, is coming out on 6 September 2018. Which, by the way, is still in 7th month #justsaying
P.S.S. Just another fun fact, do you know that we’ve a video whereby we list down the 10 most haunted places in Singapore? I don’t know why you’ll want to know about this during this period, but if you do, here it is:

The Coca-Cola Plus Coffee has arrived in Singapore, and let’s just say that the taste is very subjective: one of us thinks it’s like coffee candy, one of us thinks it’s like carbonated dark chocolate milk and one of us think it’s like Vanilla Coke. However, none of us thinks that it’s worth a second try, simply because we’ll all rather have Coke and coffee separately.
