At a time where so many people are struggling to make ends meet, the community should band together to help each other out.

Weโ€™ve already seen evidence of this, with some companies deciding to return the Governmentโ€™s Jobs Support Scheme (JSS) payments last year so it could be put to better use, while others donated the money to charity.

On the other hand, there are those who resort to more unprincipled methods to get their hands on some extra cash.

Man Allegedly Stole $800 Cash from Spice Shop in Yishun & Tried to Cover the Act by Purchasing From The Same Shop

An aggrieved store owner has taken to social media to complain about a man who stole $$800 in cash from his spice shop in Yishun.

The man recounted the incident in a Facebook post yesterday (3 June).

According to the store owner, a man in his 20s visited his spice shop โ€“ Jeya Spices โ€“ just before noon yesterday. At the time, two attendants were at the shop.

When one had gone to the bathroom and another was busy using a coconut machine, the man seized the opportunity and stole stacks of cash that was kept in a plastic container and stuffed his ill-gotten gains into his bag.

But thatโ€™s not all he did.

Presumably, in an attempt to avoid suspicion, the man then made a purchase with the stolen money.

Store Calling Thief to Come Forward Because They Donโ€™t Want to Make a Police Report

The store owner managed to get CCTV footage of the offender, though only footage from cameras outside the shop afforded a good view of the manโ€™s face.

At one point, he looked directly at the camera, presumably to see if his actions were being captured.

Narrator: Yes, yes they were being recorded.

Even though the store owner has footage of the thief in action, the man has called upon the perpetrator to come forward and admit to his misdeeds because heโ€™s hesitant to make a police report.

โ€œWe are appealing for the perpetrator to own up because we donโ€™t want to make a police report yet, and make a permanent stain on his record. Eyewitnesses, if possible please come forward too!โ€ he said.

The man even said he would have happily handed the money over to the man if he really needed it.

โ€œLife is not easy bro. Itโ€™s not easy for anybody. If you are struggling to make ends meet, I would have given it to you for free if you explained to me your situation,โ€ he said.

According to the store owner, the man is in his 20s and has a tattoo on his right forearm. He was accompanied by a woman at the time of the incident.
