There’s a Japan fair in Jurong that’ll make Jurong the new Japan

Jurong has come a long way since people started living in the area. For those of you are born in the 90s and stay in the west all your lives, you’ll probably know what I’m talking about.

Back then, we were all known as ulu Jurong, and people who stayed within the area only marginally better than Pulau Ubin. Well, if you were to place snapshots of Jurong today and Jurong 10 years ago, you’ll be shocked at how far we’ve come especially in Jurong East.

From a single mall, Jurong Entertainment Centre, to multiple malls (JEM, JCube, Westgate, BigBox), we’ve picked up the nickname “The new town of Singapore”. Suddenly, we have big brand names like “H&M, Uniqlo, Robinsons, etc” and even 3 different cinemas in the area.

And those are not the only things to have come to the west. The latest happening in Westgate is going to get you  and all Japanese enthusiasts in Singapore all excited and riled up: there is a Hokkaido Fair taking place right now in Westgate.

Until 10 July 2016, make your way to B1 of Westgate atrium to feast your eye on those beautiful Japanese seasonal products from Hokkaido and check out authentic Japanese snacks such as Hokuyu’s Hokkaido red bean paste and custard cakes, Hakodate Shinori’s maru cheesecake, Yamacho’s seasoned scallop eye and Sakanaya Shin’s Isaribi Monogatari (seafood bento).

And really, who could forget the soft serve ice-cream (albeit pretty expensive ones when you really think about it, given that McDonald’s is just upstairs). And if you’re bored of Hokkaido food (who will?!), just make your way to one level lower and indulge in the Japanese fare at Isetan. Life just couldn’t get any better, could it?

If you’ve not been there, you have only 2 more days before it’s gone. Don’t say we bojio ah!
